AWD Advance convertible!!!

So today on my way down to my 4th of July block party, I was cruising down I-5. I thought I saw a drop top 4G TL but couldn't clearly tell. I told my wife but told her I needed to get closer. Sure enough, it was a 4G SH AWD Advance convertible!!! It was the maroon color with tan or gold racing stripes like the old Dodge Viper. My mouth literally dropped. This had to be custom but it was actually a really clean job. Looked OEM. First time I believe I've seen a 4 door convertible. Enough talking, here's the proof. Wife took the shots so they weren't the best but will do. I had my camera too!

If the frame isn't reinforced because of the loss of the roof, the car will wobble like jello in twisty roads. Major fail!

looks reinforced.. if you look closely between the front and rear window on the top. there is a MUSTANG looking type of bar.

but seriously

you would think someone that has the money to do a conversion would just invest in a actual convertible..

NCE(Newport Convertible Engineering) does this conversion.

While we're on the subject of taste (or the lack thereof…), the drop-top specialists over at Newport Convertible Engineering (NEC) from Placentia, California, have sharpened their scalpels on the roof of an Acura TL sedan turning it into a 4-door cabriolet with a center roll-bar to keep things in place. The gold stripes running down the middle are the cherry icing to this strangely flavored cake.

Looking at NEC's other creations, I found a couple new proposals for roofless versions of Hyundai's Equus luxury sedan and the Aston Martin Rapide sports saloon, renders of which can be found right below the break.

NCE says that the B pillar helps with rigidity and can be made without center rollbar if wanted, although a lengthier process.

With the top closed it looks like a Cadillac with a soft top. I was in shock. Wish I was in the TL to stunt on him hahaha. Props for having a rare conversion but not my taste. The center brake light just looks cheap.

Why the racing stripes!?

Thanks for educating us Justnspace.

Props, its different. I am sure the owner looks at some of these rides that would be seen on here and thinks perhaps what you are all thinking about his car. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

It's different.... Not my cup of tea. I would have spent a little more $ and purchased a 2nd car such as a 350z conv., miata, etc.....
