2012 CBP+Umber SH-AWD Progress Thread

Just picked this up last week and am loving it! I want to get it to where I want it before the year is over.

As a start, I got her washed and waxed. I'll go back through with my DA Polisher and remove some of the swirls and scuffs left by the previous owner. I've got a roof spoiler coming in the mail and plan on grabbing the Magnaflows that a few folks here have been running. Not sure if I can spend the extra money on the dual 4" exhaust tips I want so I may stay with stock, but I just want a nice sound and the videos floating around sound exactly like what I'm looking for.

Good choice!! Really nice car. Reminds me of what mine looked like 3 months ago. I went with the quad 4" exhaust tips and I am loving their look.

Awesome! Saw a few of your pics and it's pretty much what I'm looking to do!

Care to share where you got your lip kit from? I may go the front lip + mud guards because it's a little cleaner and much cheaper. I absolutely MUST have the fronts though!

Congrats on the new car and killer camera work on those pictures, love the one above the interior shot!

The first thing I usually recommend is our V2 Jpipe. These will allow you to pick up on power lost from the restrictive OEM piping, and that should give you a bit more sound when you go to add in the Magnaflows!

You can find our Jpipe here: JPIPE-V2-UA8AWD - XLR8 J-Pipe - Excelerate's Honda & Acura Store - Japanese Performance Specialist

Good luck and happy modding!

Wish I could help with that but my car came with the lip kit when I bought it. The records I found indicate it was installed at the dealership when it was new. I consider myself quite lucky because I bought the car from online auction and I didn't actually know it had the kit until it arrived.

anyways this thread here somewhat summarizes your options

Put some yellow vinyl over my fogs for now - it was a crude job but it'll do until I take everything off once I get the lip kit. Then I can do it properly!
As I walked out to do this, I saw a neat package at the door with my roof spoiler in it so I installed that as well!

Gotta keep the momentum up! Used a handy guide here to tap into the acc fuse to hardwire a discreet charging cable in the driver side pocket and a dash cam:

Then spent the evening trying to vinyl something for the first time ever:

I wanted it to be different from the body color so I opted to go with the matte vinyl instead of glossy. Turned out OK, some spots I cut too close, but it looks good from a foot or so away. I also used some of the excess to do one of the lines underneath the beak as well to match. I ran out of excess material and daylight to get the last one done

No new mods, but a bunch of friends rented this beautiful AirBNB for the weekend so I took the time to snap some photos:

Had the hood open to disconnect the latch sensor. Turns out my TL has the dreaded Honda/Acura hood latch sensor problem causing the car to think the hood was open at all times and the alarm to go off randomly. I tried cleaning up the latch to see if that worked, but it didn't so I just disconnected the damn thing, problem solved. I think it's actually the heavy duty spring in the latch that doesn't let the switch close down far enough. I may revisit it, but right now I'm just happy the alarm doesn't go off at 3am every night.

Thanks! It's this one specifically
* Fyralip Alto Painted Window Roof Spoiler For Acura TL UA8-UA9 Sedan 09-14 | eBay

It doesn't pop out as much as I was hoping, but it still helps break the curve of the roof, which was my goal, so I'm happy!

Went to get the magnaflows welded in with stock tips. Loving the sound right now, pretty much right on with what everyone else has said about them. Minimal drone and loud when I want

Haven't gotten around to getting an exhaust clip yet, but am still loving the sound! I'll take a vid soon

Yesterday I tackled my beat up headlights. Sanded them down and gave a new coat of spar urethane/mineral spirits. Makes a HUGE difference.

Before and after:

Whew, been a long winter and now it's time to get back to it!

I had some vinyl on my chrome trim that ended up lifting and chipping off over the winter so I decided it was time to get rid of it. Removed it from the door trims and then took off the vinyl I put on the front shield grille as well
A few cans from a recent plastidip sale led me to this:

HOURS of taping and masking. Was losing sunlight by the time I finished this..

Progress pics:

Now I'm blacking out the entire grille, MUCH better look in my opinion.

Laying a base black on the wheels:

And then dusted them with some Copper Metalizer to go for bronze:

Final product as of yesterday, wheels turned out a perfect bronze for me. Still considering peeling the dip from the Acura logo, but I might leave it as all black for now

Nice touch with the Copper Metalizer! That color looks like it came out great from the pics, nicely done.
