I hate the rear of my 12 TL so I'm doing something about it

I've been meaning to do the same with my 12TL. I hate how the back looks as well. How much did it run you if you don't mind me asking?

 

Bumper $320
lip $125 ebay had to paint since silver moon is 12+ only
reflectors $35 ebay
bumper trim $35 ebay
paint $300

Also had was to order lip kit hardware for $45.00 so total $860.

 

thats great, man. can't wait to see it all put together later this spring.

 

Also all parts are oem Acura parts.

 

So the lip, reflectors and bumper trim isn't ebay? Nice.
The cost for my conversion parts came to $475 without paint, gotta love the Acura employee price.

Yes they came from eBay but they are use oem parts.

 

interesting. I hate the rear of the 09-11 and actually think the rear of the 2012-14 is a high point of the car. I always thought the gigantic tail lights on the 09-11 looked funky but to each his own. Eye of the beholder.

 

SilverJ the rear of the 12+ looks good without the lip imo. Once you add the rear lip it look like something missing since it do nothing to the rear.

 

so you mean it looks not so good with the lip that is on there stock?

 

What I mean is that I don't like the rear of the 2012+ with the rear lip. I like the rear lip for the 2009-11 so that's whe Im going the that one. I understand you like the rear of the 12+ but I dont.

 

Stock does not have a lip kit. What he means is he does not like the rear piece of the kit because it is not well integrated with the bumper on the 12 and up vs the 09/11

^^ It will look exactly like a 09/11 rear end. Post #164 by Vidol is what he will be using in place of the 12. The entire rear bumper with the skirt and trim valance is changed to give his car the appearance of the pre MMC 4G. The only difference is that his rear lights will have the red chrome bezel as opposed to the silver bezel on the 09/11.

 

got it. Interesting. This is something I would never dream of changing on the car.
Personal preference. I specifically wanted a MMC TL BECAUSE of the changes to the front and rear end. To each his own. I will definitely get a roof spoiler when summer comes. Not sure what else I would do besides change the rims.

 

I think the general consensus (opinions obv) is:
2012-14 front > 2009-2011
2009-2011 rear (with lip kit) > 2012-2014

 

Got it. I guess Ill have to see what it looks like once the OP is done. So everyone is a fan of the giant horizontal red lights on the back of the bumper ?
I was always under the impression that was a hated "feature".

 

I'm not a fan of them. And I'm not a fan of the location of the license plate either or the rear trim piece. I do like the lip kit more though.

 

Can't seem to find any that has the ACURA logo. Where did you find yours?

You have to custom order them with the ACURA.

sorry but the bumper or other parts are not for sale

 

Would love to see how the TSW's look. I am considering a few wheels from TSW for my 2012 TL: Mirabeau, Jerez, Amaroo or Sochi.

It seems you have to go to 20x10 to get a decent concave look with TSW wheels, so I am leaning away from the five spoke.

 

Only thing I don't like about the 09-11 lip is that its mostly held by double sided tape and so it eventually sags. The 12-14 lip is held with zip ties.

There is a up date on the rear lip that have 4 zip ties instead of 2 so it won't sag

Your car looks fantastic. I wouldn't want it any different if it was mine.

 

Running the 12+ front with the 09-11 rear is definitely a mix match since the heights are much different. It does look good from the front and from the rear. Just notice it in the side shot.
