Well I'll try to help a bit here. I'm not aware of one that officially exists, however I had a Unichip for my old 2001 AV6 before I parted it and sold it. Someone on the v6p forum contacted the manufacturer to get an application made for an Av6. It was all demand based, so there were enough that were interested for one to be made. The chip/piggy back system produced noticeable gains with standard bolt ons (I/E/H).

I checked the Unichip site and it doesn't list an application for Honda/Acura TL or Accord. Someone will have to be the trail blazer here and contact them to see if they can get one made specific for a 4G TL. They'll probably need a car to test and develop the plug n play harness and the initial maps. My experiences with it for the AV6 was good. It was one of those mods where I could feel the performance gains from it. It wasn't knock you back gains but gains nonetheless.

If you're interested in doing any performance mods, replace your J-pipe with an XLR8 one. That at least is a proven gain.

However; it wont be that easy.

the J-series engines are hard to crack.
they have been in use since 1996.
and we're only seeing tunes/piggy backs/stand alone's now.

hondata just released a flash for the 07-08 TL's.
thats 9 years since the 3rd generation TL came out.
and is only limited to 07-08's.

there are a few stand alone's that can tune the J-series ECU but is expensive and you need to know what you're doing as there are a lot of parameters to mess with.

Talk is cheap, there are some hp gains to be made, but not many with this motor. the cost of developing the code and paying Honda for the rights to fuck with it don't add up.
Simply put, no one is going to pay $500 for 13 more hp.

Actually that'd be right on par with an ATLP exhaust? So I guess some would. I'd pay 700 for another 13WHP/TQ, old catback got me less..

Well a j-pipe costs about $500 and it makes about 13 hp give or take a couple. People seem to be buying those. The Unichip is a piggy back system, so you're not really altering the factory ECU.

The Bottom line really to the OP is that these motors aren't good candidates to pursue a chip. You can't chip it and gain 40 HP. You're better off sticking with the more common exhaust bolt-ons.

Italiano, this is a warning to you. There is no need to come into a different generation forum that what you own and crap in a thread. We don't treat new members like this either.

Next time you do that, you'll get a vacation.

Let this be a warning to everyone. No more dumping on new guys.

Can't help it. It's an Italian thang.

One note to the though, please search before posting. That's my number one gripe about you. There are so many duplicate threads here and every new one created just adds to the mess.

Hint: Don't use the big box in the middle of the page, find the sectuion you wish to search and use the "search this forum" drop down menu to the right.
