Takeda SRI

Hi everyone, new here at the forum. Anybody knows if there is a DIY guide for installing a Takeda SRI on a 2010 TL? Thanks.

GunnerX: Thanks a lot man. If you had a Takeda Intake installed, have you received a check engine light? Did you remove everything else (intake resonator) or just the oem filter box? Thanks again.

ParaSurfer1979: I’m picking up the Takeda after work today and it’s also black. Did you receive a check engine light? Did you remove everything else (intake resonator) or just the oem filter box? Thanks.

Actually, thank prepreludesh who did the writeup. I take no credit whatsoever for it. The Takeda thread is right here. Some people did get a CEL but was taken care of.

Desmond (see sig)...lol. I have not purchased one yet for the TL but this is the one I will be getting. If it helps I did have a Takeda intake on my 08 Accord and no CEL. If you get cel then something is wrong because Takeda won't sell something that's gonna cause them trouble.

Do I see headlight washers on your car? This is something I never understood why USDM Jap car companies wont leave on our cars. European cars keep them om for the most part in the US.

Thanks a lot guys. I’m new here and I just got my TL about 2 weeks ago. I am also looking into getting Tein H-Tech Springs. I really don’t want to drop that low causing tire wear and prone to parking damages from curbs, so any suggestions, opinion, or comments are more then welcome.

Yep, only the Canadian version has the washers. Actually, I think Mexican ones too.

The intake comes with instructions. There's no real need for a DIY. The intake does not cause a CEL.

A little off topic for the thread, but just wanted to chime in on your other comment/question. I'm also looking into getting springs or coilovers. From what I have heard from others, the coilover set up can be advantageous because you can adjust your ride height pretty easily. For example, in the winter you might want to raise it back to stock height for snow clearance purposes, or like you said find a height that works for you to avoid the problems you listed. With springs you just have the option of whatever height you drop to. At first I was thinking springs, like you, but now I'm leaning towards the Tein coilovers. The coilovers are more expensive than springs, but might be worth it. Just my ...

HawkI: I was really looking into Tein H-Tech since the drop is not that low. Now I looking into getting the OEM Aero Body Kit and not too sure if I want to drop it after the kit is installed. Dilemma dilemma.

I hear ya. I've had similar thoughts. There is such a thing as too low. I was just saying the coilovers provide the ultimate ability to customize the ride height to your liking.

If you're planning on aftermarket wheels (20" are perfect for the 4G TL) I would plan your drop accordingly. The increased wheel diameter will sit you up just a bit higher than stock and an adequate drop would be in order to eliminate the unsightly wheel to fender gap and avoid the 4x4 looking status.

I think you would be fine with a drop (especially if your going with a conservative one) with the OEM aero kit. Other members have the OEM kit with a drop you can check out. Search is your friend here. Also check out the thread for RonJon's aero kit he's coming out with. It looks really good from the mock-up pictures. Thats another option out there. I like the OEM kit as well. Let us know how the Takeda and everything else works out. Good luck with your mods!

HawkI: I ended up getting the OEM kit and it’s on the way! I should get it by next week Tuesday. The Takeda SRI is sick and I’m thinking of replacing the resonator with either Dynomax or Magnaflow resonator. What’s your suggestion for a good sound upgrade that is not too loud for a ticket and legal here in California?

Are you saying an intake resonator? You put that in same sentence with the takeda intake. If so, there is no such thing as aftermarket intake resonator. There is for exhaust. Takeda won't be too loud. Engine gets happy only when you floor it. At normal throttle it's only a nominal sound difference. The exhaust, as long as it stays under 93db you'll be fine with noise. The TL isn't even close to that. Ever heard an Integra GS-R/Type-R with a race header & N1 style exhaust? It's like a loud motorcycle. That would be illegal. But your car should be A.O.K... If everything is C.A.R.B. legal, you're fine.

ParaSurfer1979: Sorry for the confusion guys. Yes, I meant replace the exhaust resonator. I read several thread here that several people replaced the resonator and I believe the mid muffler. Is there any suggestion on the mod? I just don’t want to sound like a rice burner.

I have a 2010 Acura TL Automatic Basic. I did some readings on the forum and came across several people talking about removing or replacing the midmufflers. Not sure if they were 4G or 3G. But then again, I’m a noob. What do you suggest for an exhaust mod and why? Do you have an exhaust mod yourself and if so, why did you decided to do what you did? Thanks

I decided not to delete anything by cutting and welding. Instead I installed ATLP J-Pipe and Hi-Flow Cat https://acurazine.com/forums/4g-tl-performance-parts-modifications-295/atlp-j-pipe-hi-flow-cat-807037/

Perfect. i'm doing XLR8's J-pipe and keeping cat because we have emissions in my state and doing Takeda CAI while leaving stock exhaust. Record you set-up please. So many phones should be able to record in HD like my HTC EVO 4G.

^Looks good. I like the black finish choice instead of the metal/chrome option. You can still fit your engine cover on over the intake right? I'm thinking I'll be adding the takeda sri down the road at some point.

Yes at full throttle it's throttle its agressive and throaty. At regular throttle there is little difference.

Yes there is both. Short ram gives more mid to top-end power. Cold Air intake gives more low to mid-range which the J32 motor needs. If you live in a place where it rains very heavy and don't wanna risk it even though the splash gaurd should work, then get the short ram.

I want the short ram myself if they have one for the 04 Tl. If they have one and it fits the 05 then it should fit mine.
It looks real clean and we flood too much down here for a cold air intake.

rain drops wont blow engine. If you motor gets dunked in water, then in will. I was in college in fl and live in NC and Ive never come close to hydrolocking the car. Just food for thought. The CAI will give you the added power where you need more than SRI at the lower RPM. The SRI Is a good alternative but not the best.

Anybody know where the Takeda SRI is for a 3G TL. I can't find it on XLR8 or on Takeda's website....

Here you go bro. This intake is for either Accord or TL. It'll fit 3.2 liter too so it will work for non Type-S'

http://afepower.com/shop/details_new...as&&brandID=78

I'd get black but I'm doing the CAI.

There is no short ram for the 3rd gen TL, at least by TAKEDA. There is a cold air intake by TAKEDA for the 3rd gen TL:

http://store.excelerateperformance.c.../i-262810.aspx

If you want a short ram for the 3rd gen TL you would have to purchase a K&N intake since it can convert to a short ram setup:

http://store.excelerateperformance.c.../i-140724.aspx

Quick Reply: Takeda SRI
