RV6 AWD TL J-pipe for 2012
Sorry to keep everyone waiting. We finally had some time to analyze clearance issues with the RV6 AWD TL jpipe and the 2012 TL. At first we assumed there would be no issues since the 2012 shared the same jpipe, 3rd cat and underbody brace as the 2010 we used to build the prototype. However in 2012 Honda used a different front subframe. Which brought the Jpipe 1/4" closer to the underbody brace which caused rubbing under high loads.
Instead of redesigning for the RV6 AWD TL jpipe for 2012 we have decided to include spacers to bump the underbody brace down ~.25-.5inch. This is only a minor sacrifice in road clearance and the underbody brace still isn't the lowest part of the car.
We are looking for a 2012 to be a guinea pig for this solution.

Sure thing we rarely get visitors.
I am not sure where UTI is exactly but I see the students when I am out eating all the time. Someone recommended contacting them to find part time help.

2012 TL with RV6 Jpipe.
I ordered the J pipe from RV6 and was selected as the 2012 test fitter for the J pipe.
I had time to get the install done today and took a few pics.
First pic is of the stock pipe and subframe intact. You need to remove the 5 bolts plus one clip to remove the subframe piece.

This pic just shows the new bolts and spacers. The bolt on the left is the stock bolt.
During the install we actually found that the new bolts were a bit too long and we did not actually need them. We just used the stock bolts which worked perfectly fine.

This pic shows the j pipe installed with the subframe installed.
You can see the clearance created by the spacers.

This pic just shows the spacer and how much it drops the subframe down.

We did run into one small issue. We were unable to line up the hanger with the bolts that hold it to the bottom of the car. We ended up removing the rubber hanger all together and leaving the j pipe attached to the cats and exhaust. It is very sold and does not move at all. Not sure how important that one hanger is.

The car definitely sounds more aggressive especially when vtech kicks in. The exhaust sound is a little deeper. So far this mod is absolutely awesome and I recommend it to all. Even those with the 2012 TL.

Thanks for the review Kav. We are removing the hangers from all future batches of AWD jpipes. They cause way more problems and with the current design and component selection do really do much.

Excelerate Performance has a cat-back exhaust.
HeelToe Automotive sells ATLP cat-back exhaust.
CT Engineering has an axle-back exhaust.
