Quick 2011 TL Performance Upgrades

Finally getting around to looking into some performance upgrades for my 2011 TL.

I've gotten as far as a new cold air intake, and an XLR8 JPipe. Can someone recommend a good cold air intake, or other quick performance improvements?

It would be nice to get a turbocharger and/or supercharger, but then there is the issue of tuning, isn't there?

Is your TL a AWD or FWD? You could only do so much on this platform, I would recommend RV-6 PCD'S with a RV6 J-pipe and K-tuner. As far as I know, a cold air system won't do much on a AWD, Idk about a FWD.

The factory intake is already basically a cold air intake. Just doesn't have the aluminum tubing or external filter. I also recommend Precat deletes or high flow Precats and Ktuner.

Mine's a FWD, when I bought it the cheapest AWD I could find was $6k more than the FWD, and I couldn't justify it at the time. Now though... I've been thinking about it...

if you have deep enough pockets, anything is possible!!!!!!!!!!!

you can find ebay turbos for $5k, but you'll need to do a lot of work and the cost will exceed $10k...
it just depends on your goals and budget....

starting off, you should definitely get a Jpipe or PCD's.
those are beginner exhaust mods!
since you already have the Jpipe, and if you want more power, you could try PCD's...but PCD's are straight pipe...so you're going to replace the cats with straight pipe. if you are in a state that has emissions every year, you might or might not pass depending on if you have a Check engine light or not...

instead of power, because this car is really really hard to make power out of....try modding the car suspension wise! you'll have a lot more fun at LOW speeds!!!
throw on a bigger rear sway bar and you could swing out the ass end with lift-off-oversteer

one of the best free mods is to lighten the vehicle.
you will get better acceleration, braking, and cornering JUST by taking out 100lbs

It would be nice to put a turbo in, but I can certainly save that money and put it into another project of mine, my 66 Mustang Fastback

A read sway bar really wouldn't be a bad way to go now that I think about it.

Racing stripes and flame decals increase acceleration and top end speed, right

That's a good way to go, too. Quick and cheap, I like it.

j37 intake manifold and throttle body from the AWD SH tl.

Combine that with the jpipe you already have and a proper tune with k-tuner you should be able to get some gains.

Making the car more responsive will it make it more fun to drive.

The RV6 PCD's would be a good way to get a bit more out of your exhaust system, along with some sound change. They shouldn't cause any check engine lights installed properly since they come with defoulers to help the o2 sensors read properly, which is nice so you don't have to K-tune if you didn't want to!

We have them on our site here: RV6-PCD-TL-4G - RV6 Pre Cat Delete - Excelerate's Honda & Acura Store - Japanese Performance Specialist

I also think modding suspension would be a good way to go! Coilovers can have a huge effect on drive-ability; thus making a point A to B trip more fun! (horsepower aside of course)

We have all your coilover needs here: Suspension - Excelerate's Honda & Acura Store - Japanese Performance Specialist
