Question Performance Module

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on performance modules for a stage 0 or stage 1 tune for a 2012 3.7L TL. Im relatively new to this and would rather spend a few extra bucks to get a good product rather than spend 100$ and get nothing out of it. All suggestions are welcome!

here's a K-tuner for sale for $350
https://acurazine.com/forums/market/979242

After you purchase this, you would need to spend additional monies to a tuner. Whether that be an E-tuner (someone who tunes through E-mail) or a shop with a dyno and tuner expert.

It may come with a base tune, but to REAALLY fine tune your car, you would need someone to tune it

There really are not stages with a N/A TL motor.

"Stages" in the tuning sense typically refer to FI cars (Focus ST, CTR, GTI/Golf R, etc). Stage 1 being a reflash/piggyback, Stage 2 adding some supporting mods + a different tune, etc.

The TL just has K-Tuner currently

To add, if your TL is stock (no aftermarket bolt-ons), Ktuner won't be much of an upgrade. Some have reported a slight increase in responsiveness but it's really meant to tune the engine to an ideal state after bolt-ons since the air/fuel ratio can be a little funky with the stock tune at that point.

The kicker there is, if you pay for a tune at stock, then do bolt-ons, you'll have to pay for another tune. Not the most efficient route. If you're really looking for a bit more performance (note: "bit" - it's not going to be a night and day difference. Maybe 30hp/lb-ft with ALL bolt-on's AND a tune), do bolt-ons first then the tune. Unfortunately, the $ to hp ratio on these cars isn't the best. After reviewing the cost of several folks upgrades along with their dyno, it seems these cars (as well as the 3G TL which has a very similar engine) have about a $100 per 1hp ratio. That kind of sucks compared to BMW's and Subaru's.
