Take a tape measure and measure completely around the tubing and divide that number by 3.142 to get the diameter of the pipe,eg if you get 7.855 (7 7/8) as a measurement then the pipe is 2.5".I hope this helps you.

I know this has been asked before but what is the exhaust diameter on a 3.7 AWD? I saw 2.5" in and 2.25" out then saw 2.25" out. I wrapped a tape measure around mine and got 7.1 around both in/out and then divided that by 3.142 and got 2.25". I am wanting to take out the factory resonators and replace them with smaller ones. Hoping that gives a bit more tone on the factory mufflers. Not looking for that deep loud sound. Looking for a light rumble. I am also going to remove that 3rd mid cat and possibly put on a j-pipe all at the same time. My brother is going to do the work on the side at his shop. From what I read the shorter the resonator equal more tone is passing through to the mufflers. With the factory being 24" would a 12" be too drastic?

It is my understanding, that 3.5L models have 2.25" diameter from Pre-Cats to 1-2 split/resonator where it becomes 2" to the mufflers. The 3.7L has 2.5" through until the 2nd resonator as well. I believe that is a big point of restriction.
