New muffler recommendation

Hi new here. I have an 2012 Acura Tl Sh-Awd. I have been doing some research here regarding this and would like some recommendations and have some questions. I know the popular consensus here is to get some magnaflow 11225's or the less popular borla 40357. I know these mufflers are tried and true but I would like to go on a different route and be a guinea pig for experimenting with a different brand of mufflers. My question is why is magnaflow 11225 used compared to other magnaflow 2.25 inlet outlet mufflers? Is it because it fits perfectly where the stock muffler fits? I'm thinking about trying out some vibrant mufflers or dynomax. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Not sure. I just used the Magnaflows because that's what everyone seems to recommend and the sound from the videos was what I was looking for. I'd guess if you found some mufflers that were similar in size that you'd be fine.

20x9x4 is the dimensions i'm seeing for the 11225. I'll try to look for some mufflers that are close to that dimension with an offset inlet.

So i found this. magnaflow 13215

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mpe-13215

Roughly the same dimension as the 11225 and 30 dollar cheaper.

I wonder if there is a sound difference between the 2.

I was going to go with the 11225's but from the videos i they sounded to quiet. I did a muffler delete instead it has the same tone as the 11225's but is louder which i personally like. After doing the muffler delete i still found it too quiet so I cut off the factory resonators and replaced them with magnaflow 18135 glasspack mufflers. It sounds slightly louder and it sounds like it flows better overall. At idle it has a subtle but beautiful sounding crackle but you cant hear it in the videos. Overall the total cost for me including labour was around $380cdn and worth every penny. Keep it mind i put a longer resonator vs factory since aftermarket resonators have less packing. Our OEM resonator has a 20" long chamber the 18135 has 22" long chamber. I went with glasspacks because they are cheaper than the stainless steel resonators/mufflers and i don't really mind if they blowout i started my car with no resonators and it sounds ok at idle at WOT it will most likely be obnoxious. Magnaflow also offers stainless steel resonators/mufflers if you dont want to risk the glasspack degrading overtime. If you can afford to spend a little more go with magnaflow 10435 mufflers. They are 4" vs 3.5" so im not 100% if they will fit with no problems, but the shop you take it too should be able to do some custom work to make it fit. So if you want a little louder than stock go with the 11225's if you aren't afraid to experiment do some more research of what each component of the exhsust does and try something new.

Thank you for the response. My previous car was a G37 with a muffler delete but founded to be too loud. I ended up ordering these

Amazon Amazon

Straight through design with same dimensions as the 11225. Cheap as hell and if it sounds ricey, i'm going to try out some vibrant mufflers.

Here is a sound clip. It seems like it's little bit more quieter than the magnaflows from the videos i've seen. Will getting a magnaflow resonator or dynomax make it deeper sounding and little it louder?

Yes changing you're factory resonators will make it louder. The longer the resonator deeper the sound and quieter it will be. I went with 22" glasspacks, the stock ones are 20" and its slightly louder than just a muffler delete with OEM resonators. Aftermarket ones have less packing, for you're exhaust since still have mufflers you could probably go with 18" resonators to make it a little louder and still have a deep sound.

So it installed the dynomax resonator yestersay and the sound is little bit deeper and little bit louder. Now im wishing it to be louder lol. One thing thats bothering me is this burnt smell after installing the resonator and its stinking up
the garage. How long does this last? Is this harmful inside the garage?

What way should I go?

What muffler, or catback system is the best to go with? I want an awesome growl but not a tinny sound

Largely depends on how exactly you want it to sound. Seems you should probably choose from ALTP, XLR8 or endlessrpm catbacks.

Orrrr if money is an issue do a muffler delete or something like that.

Like dopeboy said. It depends on what you want. At first i thought i wanted something mild but now i wish i would have bought something aggresive because i want something louder. I believe its the muffler thats toning it down because i saw some few youtube clips with just magnaflow mufflers and it sounds louder than my dynamax res and cheap amanzon muffler set up. Im def buying some better mufflers soon. I should have listened to the “buy once cry once”

Muffler delete

Will I be able to just do a muffler delete like I had originally hoped for without it ruining anything. Not sure if I need anything for back pressure or if that’s what the factory cats will do.

I don’t have a ton to spend. Wondering if muffler deleted would be ideal. Also, would I need to do anything else besides weld pipe where the existing mufflers are at?

On my youtube channel i have a video of just a muffler delete and another video with a muffler delete and glasspacks in place of the factory resonators you could always do the muffler delete and see how you like it if you want it louder you can experiment with different sized resonators to get you the sound you want i personally want my car louder and im thinking of switching from 22" glasspacks to 18"
