New Member with J-Pipe Question

Hello all.... Long time viewer, first time poster..... Was wondering what the difference was between the three popular J - Pipes (RV6, XLR8, & ATLP)? If anyone could chime in it would be much appreciated.

If I remember correctly xlr8 makes more hp at the lower rpms and atlp makes more at the high rpm range.

Yes, old age and faulty memory... http://www.heeltoeauto.com/blogs/j-p...6-vs-xlr8.html

The article is RV6 vs ATLP vs XLR8 for a 3.2 liter engine. Probably have very little to do with the 3.7 J series engine.

We now offer a V2 j-pipe which eliminates the third cat. Our XLR8 j-pipes also use domestic T304 stainless steel.

http://store.excelerateperformance.c...i-1676223.aspx

The XLR8 V2 J-pipe is 100% stainless steel, utilizing T304 stainless steel. The primaries are equal length 2.25" piping which transition into a 2.75" collector with stainless steel flanges and hangers. This j-pipe offers maximum performance and ground clearance. It also eliminates the third catalytic converter.

I agree justnspace. The difference I do feel is when rpms hit around 5000. The car seems to come alive in that range more compared to when it was stock.

A good tune would really clean it up nicely.

Come on hondata flashpro!!!

given the cost of a jpipe, plus install... is it even worth buying one??? doesn't sound like it... i love my car... i'd love it to be more powerful... but by the time I buy a CT intake, a jpipe, and acat back, i'd have spend thousands for what... a handful of horses that I'd need a dyno to detect???

I totally agree with you, and that certainly is the case.

To some it is worth it and to some it isn't. It all depends on what it is you're trying to achieve and if you're willing to pay to play given what is available for our cars.

I personally don't think any ONE of the mods are worth the money ALONE. But then again that is based on MY plans and desires for my TL. Big picture for me is the supercharger. The three items you listed with the exception of the filter will make for an awesome package coupled with the supercharger. Had CT not have gotten this far I wouldn't have done any of the listed mods to my TL.

All in what you want and if its worth it to you. I totally understand where you're coming from.

What Rxyamahax1 said pretty much wraps it up. It's really part of the car game. My personal opinion on this matter would be that I myself feel happy when I get work done on my car. So if you really want to make your car "more powerful", then you're gonna have to spend that guap :l. However, it is true we are quite limited to some toys. and a tune ...

Best bang for your buck performance mod is a quality air filter - I just dropped in a K&N a couple weeks back and my in town mpg average is up by 2 and tonight on Rt 88 at 80mph cruise control I got 28mpg at 2K rpm - that folks is performance you can measure - YMMV
