Magnaflow

New to the TL but my 6th Honda product including a Legend and a TSX.

I want to make a change to the exhaust on the car. I'm not worried about added performance. I just want a more aggressive sound with little to no drone and am just going to replace the stock mufflers.

I took it to the muffler shop this morning and he right off suggested the Magnaflows, which seem to be a consideration for a lot of the members here. What do you guys think? Is this the right choice or should I be considering something else?

Thanks in advance.

Personally I love magnaflow mufflers. The endLess catback uses them. They purr just right and have the right amount of loudness/tone to them. The downshift crackle they give is amazing as well. You can also get them at EndLess RPM

You may want to check out the ENdLessRPM catback presale, full catback utilizing magnaflow mufflers and the best part is LIFETIME warantee. You won't get power from just adding a regular exhaust tubes with just adding mufflers. To get power you will need a catback like the endless one being that the tubes are bigger/bent the right now.

I'm a huge fan of my Magnflows! They give that aftermarket sound without being obnoxious or breaking the bank. Add in the J-Pipe and/or HFPC and the sound gets even better!

Thanks guys. That's more than I want to spend ackTL05. I have a quote for $350 or less for two magnaflows, two tips and install.

This is my daily driver and just want it to sound a little more aggressive. I have the Corsa cat back system on my fun car and agree with you wholeheartedly for that application.

If you only have $350, a J-Pipe might be your best option and closer to your budget. We offer our V2 J-Pipe for $475 not including shipping. It is made from full T304 stainless steel, is TIG welded and mandrel bent for unmatched performance and fitment.

Thanks for the interest but again I'm just trying to get a better sound. I went for the sound and performance on my Vette with a Corsa system. I just don't want to make the same monetary investment in performance mods here.

Has anyone tried the Dynomax VT mufflers? Apparently they're supposed to eliminate drone while cruising but still give a performance sound when you apply moderate to heavy throttle.

This is a positive article on the muffler. A couple of forum posts I read talk about the valves clanking.

Had the Magnaflows put on this morning and left both resonators in place. First impression is more aggressive at idle and when you get into it but no drone. Fairly quiet at cruise. I'm taking a road trip this weekend and see if it is still too quiet and if it is, I'll have the small resonator removed. The bill so far is just under $300.

I'll get a sound clip up this weekend.

Jesus...those barely qualify as mufflers, I'm surprised it's not really loud with those little pea shooters installed.

I know the 3gs has mid mufflers, but didn't know the 4gs had them too. I had the shop install my j-pipe and HFPC, but I never actually looked under the car.

I wonder if you would get rasp or drone by deleting the mid muffler??

The stock AWD exhaust system is comprised of three Cats, two resonators and two mufflers at the rear.

There is no mid muffler on the AWD, removing the resonators will produce a lot of rasp.

You can tell from this angle, there is the resonator left and mid muffler on the right

"ej6silver" , not sure if you are referring to my post.

However the pic you posted above is a Fwd exhaust system. My post was in reference to the AWD exhaust which I clearly stated and was to answer "arpypat" post. The exhaust on the two cars are different.

There is no mid muffler in the AWD exhaust. Reference below for the Awd layout

No rasp with my Resonators Removed. Matter of fact all I get is a slight drone but nothing serious as of now.

Good to hear , I believe you have the Borla mufflers installed, correct ?

Stock exhaust with resonators removed produces rasp, something not isolated to our cars but many others as well.

Thanks for the info KarKraze. I didn't realize the FWD and AWD TLs had different exhaust components. I actually ended up getting a small amount of rasp after HFPCs while the engine is cold... I wonder if swapping out the factory resonators will do anything to suppress it?

Hey bob i'm trying to get the same thing done to my vehicle too with a low budget to spend. Would these magnaflow work for my 2013 acura tl awd? Can I get the site of where you purchase them from? And when were you doing a sound clip on them?

I don't know why they wouldn't work for you. The area back there has got to be the same size on the AWD and FWD. I just purchased them from the muffler shop that did the work. I have been derelict on the sound clip and will try to get something up over the next day or two.

The Magnaflow 11225 seems to be the closest replacement for our stock muffler. Both it and the stock muffler have offset inlets and measure 2.5 inches. They vary in length (14 inch for stock vs. 12 inch for the MF). I've got a pair of them in my garage and will be going on shortly. There are soundclips on this site, try a search.
