K&N Replacement Filter or CAI?
#2
I may be wrong, but what I remember is this:
CAI is no better than how the car is engineered. You won't see any gains.
K&N drop in filter lets a lot more particles in then a good purolator (or similar) filter, and if you over oil it, it will mess up the MAF sensor.
Someone will correct me if I am wrong.

I dropped the K&N filter in my stock system and it does give the engine a nice tone when accelerating. The throttle response is slightly more responsive as well. Probably a few more miles per gallon too.
I've always done a CAI on every car I've owned except this one. Reason being the TL already drove like a bat out of hell off the lot. My other vehicles weren't as powerful and needed all the help they could get.

No need to get a CAI for the 09-12 TL. 1st off they don't even make them (only short ram intake) and 2nd I've documented that while the car is moving, the Air Intake Temperature is only 8 degrees warmer than the ambient air outside. I have a Takeda SRI and the sound is amazing but the performance advantage is negligable. With no confirmed dyno results on any performance add-on with the SH-AWD TL, you're strictly going to have to go by "seat of the pants" feel.
