I received as a gift a regular ebay intake for my 4th Gen TL. After install I was getting check engine due to leak of air. I was told it should be a cuppling... Should I try to make it work or just buy a takeda?

 

To my knowledge there are four intakes available for the TL, Takeda, K&N, Weapon R and the Ct E Icebox. The Icebox being best choice.
With regards to your issue, check back all the connection and make sure they are all tight, check the MAF sensor to see that it is seated properly. The rubber tubing that connects the intake to the throttle body should also be checked to see if you installed the correct one, there should have been one for the 3.5 engine and one for the 3.7.Also make sure the orientation of the said tubing is correct.
