XLR8 needs a car in Phoenix, AZ to get the AWD project started

 

Honestly, if I had the time to drive up to Phoenix, AZ for a couple weeks then I would do it in a heartbeat. But I just don't have the time to do all that.

 

I'm dying to see some pics.

 

Getting back together with ATLP next sat for a professional photo shoot.

 

Buck what are the gains? and is it pretty loud in the car?

 

I cant release the dyno results, but I can tell you that the power gains you feel while driving are accurately represented in the dyno results. I was actually surprised with the final results. Yes you can hear it in the car, my car is still adjusting. I played around today with the paddle shifters, the in cabin sound is reduced when using the paddles. The car just needs time to adjust. Mike told me that in a month the sound will be less, which is what a lot of owners reported that bought the 3G quads.

As for the sound, its no where near as loud as a Greddy exhaust. But it is aggressive. I think the note is sharper and more aggressive than the infinity stock G37 exhaust note. Mike asked me on a scale of 1-10 (10 being a greddy) where I thought this ranked. I gave it a 4-5. Granted this is my taste. I have been able to have phone conversations on the internal bluetooth and the other end of the conversation hasnt been able to hear the exhaust.

Keep in mind your current setup is a complete J-Pipe, Race Pipe, and full cat-back configuration, so it is a tad louder since we eliminated the 3rd catalyst.

It was a good notch quieter with the stock catalyst in place when we did a quick start-up/rev with it, if I remember correctly. Although I would need you to verify as you did the in-car revs.

Either way guys, we have the shoot scheduled for this Saturday so we can officially release this exhaust. I'm very happy with the finished version of this exhaust and the overall image it has given to the 4G TL's rear fascia.

 

You've got me glued to this thread. Can't wait till it releases. What's the est. Price range for the full exhaust? Very very very interested!

 

Please correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds like you are trying not to say:
"It drones at mid level rpms, but if I use the paddle shifters to keep it out of that range it sounds better"

 

Yeah mike it was a bit quietier with the stock catalist in place. Everyone has their own thoughts on exhaust note. To me it's perfect. My girlfriend rode with me all day yesterday and never complained. Well she complained just not about the exhaust note. I am sure audio clips will be out soon as well.

 

 

Buck did you use the stock tips...if not are the ATLP tip similar or oval?

 

So is it also saying that ATLP has made a J pipe and a Test Pipe for the 4G?

 

Yep ATLP has produced J-Pipe, Test-pipe and cat back

 

if i had FWD i would be all over this. ATLP Exhausts turn into collectible/rare items very quickly

 

J-pipe and Test-pipe are good for both FWD and AWD versions right? Just not the Catback

 

Does that mean this is going to be for a limited time?

No, from what I understand, the J-Pipe & Catback are FWD only. AWD versions are different

I think the Test-Pipe might be good for both models

Photoshoot went well, some awesome shots were taken. As soon as the photographer edits and emails the pics either Mike or myself will be posting them.

I think mike is planning on the release as soon as the pics are done. That's my understanding that that will be the launch. However I will defer to mike for the actual timing.

 

Is there gonna be a sound clip by any chance?

 

Not sure, we havent taken a sound clip of my car yet. As soon as this releases if we dont have a clip, I can probably take some video.
