Exhaust Tip question

my car was in a small hit/run in a parking lot. my passenger side exhaust tip was bent. my insurance gave me money to replace it..i have discretion to fix it or leave it. i don't wnat to leave it as it looks bad..but I don't HAVE to fix it with a brand new OEM part.

I could have it bent back out by a shop.. I could source a used tip from a junk yard, or I could just cut off my stock tips and add any kind of aftermarket tips I want to my existing stock mufflers. I'm not sure what the best look / best ption woudl be.

this is what it looks like now. i had posted this in another thread asking whether anyone though my insurance would pay for full replacement or just to repair it. they gave me money to repalce it. but it's not enough to buy new exhaust after my deductible was taken out.. and I don't think I want to fork over the difference to buy a $1000-1500 XLR8 or ATLP system...

i could cut this tip off and the left side, and then put on aftermarket tips..maybe something round that LOOKS lke ATLP type tips.. i'm just not sure if that is easily doable by a muffler shop or if it would be incompatible .. i don't know if ayone has done that or knows how easy/hard it is to do it.

I actually am quite fine with the stock exhaust tone/sound..so i'm not in a rush to put on aftermarket exhaust.. i just don't want my tip bent.

i think the stock tips look ok... if it's possible for a muffler shop to just pound this out, heat it up, somehow massage the bend out.. i might consider that too...

chime in with any suggestions. thanks!!

Many members have switch to 3.5"-4" tips. They will not change the tone of the exhaust but add a nice aggressive look to the rear. They aren't too pricey either. Since you aren't looking to upgrade exhaust. That's the route I would go. Any muffler shop can cut the old tips off and add new ones for a decent price. You'd probably still have money left over.

I bought these when I had my '09. I was kinda in the same situation as you but mine was mangled; badly.
