little to none with daily driving.

when you get into the Upper RPMs(vtec starts at 4800 RPM) you'll hear the engine breathe, akin to a cold air intake.

J pipe only you won't notice it unless you floor it, it was my first mod, basically it sounded a touch more aggressive than stock when you rev it high but other than that you won't know its there unless the fitment is off and it's rubbing on something.

When I installed mine, I did not notice any increased noise at all.

I don't think any of the performance upgrades were worth the money. I was definitely hoping that there would be more gains. If you want the sound, throw some aftermarket mufflers on it. For performance, I would go right to light weight wheels and performance tires.

our cars make peak power at 6000 RPM.

if you never drive in the upper RPM's the jpipe will not benefit you.

Hi folks....Ive been reading through alot of the threads on different topics and first and foremost I want to thank all the guys that have come before me and presented their experiences.
I read as of late that a j-pipe mod, by itself, doesnt really do much for the car unless one is in the upper RPM band....With that being said, I dont need loud and "here I come".....Im looking more for "too late, there I go" sleeper type of speed.....I was thinking of replacing the exhaust manifold and replacing that with headers and the j-pipe....Any thoughts. I know leaving the stock exhaust might be a bit dumb, but has anyone attempted this and with what success....Thanks

Many people have done just the Jpipe mod. It was my first performance mod with stock exhaust and it made the car a little more snappy but doesn't change the exhaust note.

I may be wrong, but I believe the exhaust outlets are cast into and integral with the heads, thus making it impossible to replace the exhaust manifolds.

Correct, the heads and exhaust outlets(if you wanna call them that) are one solid piece...the converters come off those and then feed the A-pipe of the exhaust and so on to the secondary converter, B-pipe and finally the mufflers...

Is JPipe passed smoke check in California?
the reason I am asking since when installing Jpipe, the catalytic convertor is also removed.

Not sure if it passes California emission. However, the third cat on the J Pipe is not monitored ( no sensors).

Our J-Pipe is not CARB approved. That being said, we haven't gotten any reports of customers failing emissions inspections because of it. Maybe someone who's a cali local and has a J-Pipe can add more input.

I just wanted to add that with my Magnaflow mufflers my exhaust note was definitely changed with the addition of the J Pipe. Nothing too crazy, but not quite as subtle as before. I really like it.

I also want to add that I felt a little more zip in lower RPM's with the addition of the J Pipe. Granted it may have something to do with the Takeda intake and mufflers but wanted to mention regardless that not everyone only experiences increased power in higher RPM's.

How did the mpg's change? What about in cabin noise level? With my experience having magnaflow exhaust on my last vehicle I didn't have any drone but only heard my exhaust when accelerating. What is the model # that you installed?

I didn't really notice a change in mpg's but I also wasn't monitoring it. None of the mods I've done have drastically changed my overall mpg. I am generally around 19 mpg during the hot time of year (with A/C) and 20 mpg during the cooler time (no AC). I have a 6MT though and don't run it hard constantly but also don't baby it.

The change in 'in cabin' noise level was barely noticeable after just adding the Magnaflows. It was definitely a bigger change when the J-Pipe was added but even then it wasn't more than I wanted. I had a loud exhaust on a previous car so my first priority with the TL was something mild. The Magnaflow mufflers combined with the J-Pipe did just that and I couldn't be happier.

I have the 11225 model (fits AWD and has single outlet).

Guys,

I know a guy up here in the north selling his xlr8 jpipe and test pipe. The jpipe is used but looks decent, test pipe is new.

Is there any harm in using a used j pipe?

It would save some cash and a he'll of alot of shipping fees.

Should not be a problem, make sure that there are no cracks in the welding and check the braided flex pipe for damages.
