Anyone with custom exhaust systems 4th gen TL?

You can run a custom exhaust but to get more gain and sound you'd want to buy a j pipe. Preferably one that replaces the factory cat. If you're just looking for sounds swaping the mufflers works good too. A few people are running magna flow mufflers. There's an echaust thread in this section if you want to hear some sound clips.

There's really no need to do a custom exhaust when there are already production exhausts around. Look into doing a J-Pipe and a Catback exhaust. You're going to be more than pleased with the power and sound that they provide. Check out our V2 Jpipe and our exhaust:

also, since the heads are cast into the block, we dont have the need for headers.
catalytic converters are placed directly after the block.
we remove the cats, and replace them with straight pipe.
these pre-cat-deletes provide about 15 horses.
which makes the PCD's one of the best bangs for the buck.

If your state does emissions tests do not run straight pipes for the cats. You can get high-flow cats, but I know some people have had problems with it throwing codes... some have not.

I ran a test pipe with aftermarket headers and exhaust on my TSX and it passed emissions everytime. But it's different for each state with California being the most strict. I'm in Washington.
I plan to do the same for the TL eventually to get max airflow. High flow cats work great too and are more legal.

The PCD's are known to trigger the CEL in the 4G,smell of raw gas and produces rasp. Will most likely fail emission as well.
The HFPC does not do any of those things, that is why i chose this for my car.Any HP gains will be slightly less than the PCD's .

Do you guys with test pipes not run a de fouler? That should trick the 02 sensor. Forget to mention that's what I did.

I got Borla mufflers I left the stock j pipe I live in California gotta pass smog, and don't want to have any check engines light on from j pipe back is custom made 2.5 all the way to the Dual Borla exhaust with stock exhaust tips I will get dual tips later. It sounds way better special in S mode I can finally tell when to shift feels more responsive I also installed a Takeda intake all I hear is the V-Tech growl at the othe cars I'm passing up. Thank you all for the help.

Longtime Lurker
The ones from RV6 come with downstream defoulers that allow adjusting how far "in" or "out" of the flow the O2 sensor sits. If you get a CEL for either downstream sensor running rich, just back it out by a turn or so and re tighten the set nut. Do the opposite for a lean code. May take some trial and error to make the ECU happy.
