Just bought a 2013 TL awd-tech and am trying to get everything setup. When I attempt to connect to server it fails each time. Has anyone gotten this to work?

Will getting this connected enable me to receive SMS messages and have it read to me while driving?

I've never been able to get mine set up on my 2010. I've used a Sprint iPhone 4S, and Verizon iPhone 5 with no luck.

 

Nope. This feature is not available on the TL.

The data connection allows your car to transmit and receive data to/from Acura for diagnostic purposes.

 

It works with the TMo BB 9900; diagnostic, only; no SMS

Thanks guys! Pretty lame that with all the "tech" built into this car it can't receive and reply to SMS using voice.

Agree, however, the technology in the TL Tech package is based off a system designed more than 5 years ago.

The new navigation system/technology system coming with the ILX, RLX, and upcoming MDX has this feature. As soon as the TL/TLX (whatever it's going to be called) receives it's model update I am pretty sure it will have the SMS option.

 

People need to remember that the TL design was probably locked in early 2008 and the feature list was probably locked at least a year earlier. Acura / Honda is not big on radically changes during the model life cycle, even MMC is usually bumper/fascia and a few tweaks. The 3G TL other than Type-S intro did not see much change during its cycle. At least the 4G saw the Advance model and some tweaks to head unit, brighter LED backlight, faster electronics. Let's just hope they have a lot of goodies in store for the TLX

 

The iphone is not supported for acuralink.

 

Its an IOS issue. Iphones don't have the feature needed to do SMS.

 

Wrong. The TL does not have the SMS interface. Nothing to do with the phone or the phone's operating system.
