USB not working for Wallpaper or Audio :( Tried multiple
Hi
I tried 3 usb sticks, one is from office depot, other one is san disk, other one is generic (no need for driver)
All 3 doesnt detect, how do I add wallpaper or songs frmo usb to harddrive? Also my harddrive says 12gb capacity, is that right? :\
Thanks!

You can't add USB to HDD, CD only.
Check the format of the USB make sure it's compliant, whatever the hell that is, PC FAT 32 file or something, and the file size per jpg cannot exceed 6MB, but that's a pretty big file so you should be good.
Oh and yes, the HDD is 13GB, mine is at 12.1GB so your good. We're guessing it's a 30GB HDD, and it's partitioned so half is for the NAV, and half for music.

I did FAT 32, and I did the same wallpapers as https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ight=Wallpaper
I put it in the root folder of the USB, when plugging in, where do i go to check if USB connection = detected? As I had nothing

I don't know what else to tell you about the USB stick, you obviously are doing something wrong, because it works for everyone else? Re-work the process and try it again.
The USB stick will also play MP3's, but it's very slow to populate on the Nav system. Yes you can make Mp3 CD's, then the TL will convert them again to MP3 on the HDD. Keep in mind your losing a ton of quality, but if think it sounds good and your happy, it's all good. If you have the capability, I'd take a bunch of AIFF or WAV files directly from you commercial CD's and make a 2 track DVD-Audio. At least you won't be using MP3 format, and you can fit at least 4 or 5 80 min CD's on a DVD-A. No DVD-A is not transferable to the HDD even if you have 2 track audio files like WAV and AIFF.

Yeah, I'll keep everything on my IPOD, screw the HDD lol
As for WALLPAPER
Here's what i did
1) Format USB to the FAT32
2) Added 10 .jpg files from the wallpapers thread
3) Plugged USB in after car = started
4) Went to settings -> wallpaper, nothing = detected :\
(tried with multiple sticks)

maybe you might need to use the NTFS instead of FAT32

I tried everything with 3 cards, nothing, yet the IPOD connects perfectly fine.
Should i
1) Turn engine on
2) Plugin USB
3) Do anything to detect the wallpapers or just go to settings wallpapers?

Something's rotten in Denmark? Where'd you get your car from again? You haven't posted in the 4G owners lounge? I don't understand how your having all these issues? The USB is probably the easiest connection in the computer media world, its very driver friendly and requires very little sync commands to other USB devices?
I assume your on a PC right? Maybe it's the files on your USB stick? They might be corrupt or something? Make sure the files your trying to play through the TL meet the audio format compatibility listed in the manual.

Yeah it's weird, the IPOD works fine, so no idea why usb not connecting to the TL
Everything else is fine as well, just small issues/questions i had that wasn't very clear in the manual.
So last remaining question is just setting up the USB Wallpaper pretty much. See evocative above, he had same issue as me, usb stick didn't work but usb card reader did. I only have usb sticks :\

Hey every1. New here and new to posting so bear with me. I'm having the same problem as far as USB goes.... I cant upload any pictures for some reason. No problems with ipod or anything else, i just wanna upload my pics?? Also, just picked up my new black on black TL SHAWD TECH on Tuesday and I am so in love! Just thought I'd throw that in there. It's my first Acura and first foreign car as a matter of fact and it's incredible.

Congrats!!! Post in the 4G owners lounge right away and post your info in the signature section, like mine so we don't have to ask a unnecessary questions. Please read the manual on this section to cover basics on uploads for wallpaper. I think there's a section on file size, I believe it was nothing bigger than 6MB per picture, but that should be plenty.

So can you write the exact path you used to import the pictures?
I used Info -> Other -> wallpaper settings -> import

Okay, so the USB is definitely recognized because it plays a couple of audio files I put on it. There could be something with the file format, but I used photoshop to save the images. Any other suggestions?
Correction the path was Info-> personal information-> other -> wallpaper settings -> import pictures to HDD
I'll try the voice command next chance I get.

Take everything off the USB flash drive, and load back in just the jpegs. Jpeg file size is not to exceed 6MB per pic. Make the file names short, like OLU.JPG. And keep trying, it definitely works. The USB in the TL is very PC like, bad drivers, it's glitchy and doesn't always recognize my iPhone. I too formated from a Mac using 32fat file, and it works so your okay there. Good luck.

I'm going to have to make a trip back to the dealership for this one.
Thanks for the tips. I consider myself pretty computer savvy. I've zeroed the 1st thumb drive. Re-formatted it. Changed the file names. Edited permissions with no luck. I just tried using a new USB thumb drive unsuccessfully. I've tried an iPod shuffle and iPod Nano as USB drives unsuccessfully and my card reader isn't even recognized as USB.
Truly a bummer for what would have been a perfect 1st experience with the car.

I initially had a thumb drive that wouldn't work, but I have also had jpg files that wouldn't load. Don't remember now what the issue was, but I know that when I open them in photo software on my mac or PC I looked at the properties there were pieces of information that was missing on some. Those wouldn't load on the Acura. If I re-saved them in the photo software such that those properties were created, then they worked fine. Sorry I don't remember which properties and I don't think I understood exactly what they were at the time. just know that when I get some the Acura won't load that's what I needed to do.

I went to the dealership today. The jpg files wouldn't load on a brand new sh-awd with tech package. However the files loaded on an sh-awd loaner using the same files and thumb drive.
At this point they're thinking there could be a difference in the computer software. They are going to contact Acura and see if any recent software updates have been made. This update may have disrupted this feature.

I guess 3 is the magic number. I was in the Apple store yesterday and I saw a Flash drive by Crucial. They make some great RAM so I decided to buy it. The fact that it was formatted for an Apple also meant that it wouldn't have these preloaded .exe files littered on the drive like the SanDisk and Geek Squad drives I bought.
Went through the same process, reformatted using the Mac in FAT 32 and copied the pictures onto the root of the drive. Viola! It worked . The 2 other drives still don't work. I'm not sure why they worked with the loaner 09 TL.
My best guess is those .exe files that never seem to disappear are probably on a partition or portion of the drive I can't get too. This is probably considered the root directory by the TL and screwing up the whole process.
Now if only they could make the wallpaper a real wallpaper that stayed up faded in back of all the menus.

Anyone else think it is silly that you can't change the wallpaper or even select that it displays (after you push the startup "OK" button) unless the car is stopped? You can do pretty much anything else while driving with either voice or the buttons, but heaven forbid if you want to display the wallpaper Not a huge deal, but I find it funny why Acura decided to lock that out while driving.
