Hi all,

2012 TL w/ tech owner wondering if anyone else has had Song by Voice (SBV) stop working after you have too many songs on your iPod? I have a 160GB iPod Classic that I use, and SBV has always worked. Then one day it stopped working. I couldn't figure out why even after restarting the iPod several times.

Then I realized the only change I had made was adding a large number of songs (I had maybe 14,000 at that point). So I reduced the number of songs back down to say 10,000 and SBV worked again. I don't know what the magic threshold was since the difference was 4K songs.

But over time I started adding new music. And again, right around the 13000 song range, SBV stopped working: when the TL tries to index the iPod, it does so for about 4 minutes and then announces "Voice Recognition Command is not available for this device" despite the fact that it's been working for months and months.

I've searched this forum and the web for an answer and haven't found one, so I'm starting a new thread. If I don't get many responses I'll try the dealer, though the one closest to me doesn't exactly have the most knowledgeable guys when it comes to the music tech in the cars. I'm just trying to get a handle on:

1) is this a known problem, are others having the same experience?
2) is there a fix (other than reducing the number of songs in your iPod)?
