Software/Firmware update-2010 Tech

I am new to the Acura community as I just bought a 2010 TL today. I am in love with the car other than the scroll search through the ipod menu. I have a big collection of music on my ipod and it takes forever if I want to scroll to the lower letters of a song/album. Is there a update or a quicker way to scroll the the selection of music?

My suggestion to you is to create a lot of playlists for the TL. This would be the best way to go through your songs. Browsing through 8000 songs takes too much time and really not necessary in many cases. But if you really need to have all the songs in there, then make several playlists with your favourite songs.

USB 2.0 has been a standard for almost 7 years, I would be very surprised if such was the case, but wouldn't matter any way with the minute amount of data being exchanged.

Your best bet may be to use the hard drive for all your music; much snappier to respond. If you have a touch iPod or iPhone, all the audio works over Bluetooth fine, and MOST of the time, the skip controls on the steering wheel work with it also. You just don't get the info on the nav screen.

That makes sense. iPod people just get used to creating playlists.

Trouble is, of course, that more and more often we're buying our music through iTunes or another download service, and we've never had any kind of physical media to use to get the music onto the hard drive. And the hard drive doesn't seem to be 256K...is it?

I'm amazed how good the Bluetooth works in the TL. I thought it'd downgrade to 128K over Bluetooth, but it seems to be very, very high quality. Even at higher volumes, I do not hear a difference between Bluetooth and iPod hard connection.

Even if the '12 has 2, it's still awfully slow.

This is why in my 08 TL I make each disc with a specific genre of music and load the max songs the ELS system will allow them to have (255 songs or folders) per disc. This gives the 07-08 TL to have a total Library (kind of) of about 1530 mp3/wma songs. It's kind of as if the 07-08 TL's have 4.2gb of space . I am aware that this is a 4th gen thread but I just thought i'd post my .02.

I'm thinking about getting navtool to fix this problem. Does anybody have navtool? if you do, is it a good idea or not?

Navtool

Navtool is:
A plug and play interface box that provides an additional video/audio input. The video can be played back on your Nav Screen and the audio is pushed through your car's speakers. Since it is plug and play, the audio is clean (not like some converters where you have to use an FM modulator)

Most folks attach a component or composite cable to Navtool and their iPhone or iPod touch. This allows them to stream netflix, play music, play videos on the nav screen, etc all from their mobile device.

Hope this helps.

Upgrade your iPod to an iPod touch and use Bluetooth, then you can drive the iPod directly. Of course, you shouldn't be fidgeting around with a touch display while you're driving...

I use an old iPod nano via the USB cable and I don't really have trouble with the scrolling speed. But as has been stated earlier, I use playlists with no more than 100-200 songs in them to help narrow the field.

I have the same problem with my 2010 TL. My wife's Honda Pilot has pretty similar Nav/audio interface but the scrolling is much faster AND you can search by voice command for artist or song. The 2013 TL has the same feature. I honestly don't know if you can perform a firmware update for this. I'll ask my service technician next time I'm in
