Siri on iPhone 5/iOS6 + HFL
#1
Figured I'd do the proper thing and start a new thread (also for the specific configuration I'm talking about).
I just bought my '13 AWD with Tech and was really looking forward to using Siri through the speakers to play music, read messages, send messages & make calls etc.
Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to work. Music works fine. Siri does not.
This is what happens:
- The phone is connected via bluetooth
- Whether the audio system is ON/set to bluetooth audio or not doesn't matter
- I hold the home button on my iPhone, the purple mic pops up with an icon showing me that audio is being routed through bluetooth (this is on the iPhone)
- For a second or so, the Acura nav screen shows the phone menu with a "Transfer" option highlighted
- If I do nothing, I don't hear Siri's double beep prompt and the phone either gets stuck or goes back to doing nothing
- If I manage to hit enter on the Acura while that "Transfer" option is highlighted, the nav screen for less than a second shows that a "call" is connected and then goes back to whatever it was doing. I still don't hear Siri's double beep prompt
- My phone at this point has given up trying to route Siri audio through the HFL and instead uses the phone speaker. Any further attempts to change the audio output on the Siri screen (mic + audio output icon) fail.
Just so I understand correctly, everyone who used Siri with their Acura had iOS5 or iOS6?
I have iOS 6.1 on an iPhone 5 with a '13 AWD/Tech
Will post screen shots if someone out there actually gets their Siri to work
Thanks

2013 SH-AWD/Tech TL/iPhone 4S/IOS6.1 & Siri
I just tried it driving around in the Boston area. Siri worked fine as long as I had two bars or more signal strength indication. One bar, Siri could not respond, but still the audio came through the speakers and the XM output was blocked.
In my case the variable is that I have a 4S not a five. Seems to work as expected.

That's crazy
Who would have thought phone hardware would be the variable here?
Thanks for the detail. I'll try and see if I can get Apple's attention.
rmjse, I'm not talking about Eyes Free, just talking about Siri working through a bluetooth accessory (which in this case is a '13 TL with Tech).

Works perfectly in my '12 with the iPhone 5/IOS 6.1 as well - I hold the button down, Siri comes on through the HFL and responds appropriately. Doesn't matter if I'm listening to XM, Bluetooth Audio, etc.

From my understanding is this will not work in older Honda's and Acura's.

I finally figure this out guys. For '13 TL with Nav/Tech:
In phone setup (under Cellular phone menu after pressing the phone button), there is an auto transfer setting (phone to auto transfer to HFL or "Hands Free Link"). Turn this on. Any BT/Siri prompt from the phone will auto play through the speakers. Hope this helps. Also as an added bonus, when you dial from your phone - it actually "automatically transfers". Who would have thought it was this easy?
