Running just one pair of components
First off sorry for the multiple threads just trying to figure out this new system in the TL.
Is it possible to run just a pair of components in the front doors off of a aftermarket amp, and keep the rest of the speakers running off the ELS. I have no reason to change the rest out.
So the only equipment I would add would be
JL 10w6
JL C5 components
JL 500/1
JL 300/4 (bridged)
Is this possible without major surgery to the ELS?

It would be possible, but how are you planning on running the wires to the front components? Would you run new wires from the 300/4 amp to each front door, or cut the wires for the front speakers from the factory amp, then connect them them to the 300/4 amp?
Back at the stereo shop I worked at, they mostly just cut the wires and ran extensions to the amp (this is for customers who wanted to keep there factory HU). Saves time, but I wouldn't do it that way on my vehicle.

In theory I would use the outputs for the 2 front speakers as inputs to the amps.
At the shop did you work on a TL or any new acura, if so how hard was it to run wire from the door to the trunk?
I shudder to think of the overall sound of mixing - even the minimum amount you are considering - a system composed of 2/3 stock with 1/3 aftermarket ... but it would probably be unique.
Yea I would run new speaker wire from the door to the amp...well that is dependent on the grommet being easily accesible...

I haven't worked on any new Acura's at the shop, since I quit after starting college. So it's been about 4+ years. But like any other car, running the wire through that rubber grommet usually takes the most time. After that, it's just hiding/tucking the wires within the panels.
I'm still trying to think how your setup would sound with just a front pair of components being powered by an external amp with more power/watts. I think they would be over powering the other speakers and kind of ruin the surround sound experience.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the Rockville midbasses are garbage in comparison to the Cadence original ones. Same with the Rockville tweeters. They are no-where near as good.
I ended up using the Cadence midbasses and Cadence tweeters. At first I thought there was a big problem, but figured out it was just heavy reflections from the tweeters because of the door windows with the tweeters further back. With teh tweeters as far forward as possible it wasn't near as bad.
