I bet the #1 DVD-A disc for any year is the demo disc that goes out in the TL - funny if it wasn't so sad

Have you had problems with Mac interface? Am planning on new TL and like the Tech package, if it works with Mac.

tgpine, there's a thread here that is dedicated to the making of DVD-A for the TL's on the Mac or PC for your reading enjoyment. https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...=audio+pdf+dvd Please note the credits in the back of the PDF, this group really hashed it out for all to enjoy.

If you have any Mac questions, holla!

Be careful with Amazon. . .

Agree that Amazon has a reasonable DVD-A selection, but be warned that many of the discs that they label as "DVD-A" are actually DTS and may or may not play in ELS. For example, Midnight Oil Capricornia is a no-go, but Sting's nothing Like the Sun plays perfectly (with song tags to boot). Both are DTS but labelled DVD-A on Amazon. Other good choices:
Seal - Greatest Hits
David Sanborn - Outside
Eagles Hotel California
Steely Dan - Two aaginst nature.
For new stuff I think we are out of luck. . . .

Really, there is an issue with playing some DTS discs on our TL's ELS audio system?

The DTS titles I own have had no problems playing whatsoever -- guess I've just been lucky.

I now have Mark Knopfler's "Sailing To Philadelphia," and "Shangra-La," Donald Fagen's "Morph The Cat," Santana's "Supernatural," and Steely Dan's "Gaucho."

Ditto. The title track of Brothers In Arms is one of my all time favorites and one of the tracks I always use when auditioning high end equipment (yes, I'm an unrepentant audiophile addict...I've spent more money that I care to admit over the years in pursuit of "audio nirvana"...lol).

My other all-time favorite for auditions is "Private Investigations," also Dire Straits. Amazing delicacy, percussive bass drum hits and almost perfectly recorded.

That would be excellent. Has the DVD-A format been abandoned? I can't believe the lack of pop/rock choices. I wonder if more DVD-A titles will become available in the future, or if it will just be the occasional classical title...?

Any of the Steely Dan discs sound excellent. Be sure to try Donald Fagen's latest "Morph The Cat". It won the award for best surround sound disc.
Plus, if you like Smooth Jazz, Dave Koz's "The Dance" is awesome.
PLEASE get "Goodbye Yellowbrick Road" from Elton John-outstanding.
The "Love" DVD Audio disc is fantastic. If you're a Beatles fan with a TL-buy this immediately. Do not pass Go-do not collect $200....just get it!

Yes, the format is basically dead. Every once in a while, you'll see a new disc (like the Love CD from the Beatles), but they are few and far between. Acoustic Sounds is very good for purchasing DVD Audio discs. But if you want some DVD Audio discs DLee, you better get them now!

You know you can have folders in the USB flash drive and it'll appear on the screen as if an ipod was plugged in.I usually have it by artist name but you can half multiple layers of folders and the car will still pick it up.

There's one big downside to USB that I have noticed and its capability of playing all types of mp3s. There are a few mp3s that work on my computer and my mp3 player that refuses to play in the car. I get the "unplayable file" error message.

Regarding the Mp3's that play on the computer but not in the TL, check the file format for bit-rate and sample rate. The TL has limitations for the Mp3 format.
