Question Recording HDD playlist onto a device

I've had my 2009 TL for several years and I've refined my HDD playlist to perfection. Now I want to record them 'as is' onto a device so that I can play my list in rental cars and other vehicles other than my own on road trips? How is this done and what is the best device to use for the process?

Well you could pull the HD out of the dash and use a computer, though I going to try to convert it to 128GB Pata SDD this summer.

The short answer is that I don’t believe that it can be done without pulling the whole head unit from the dash, removing the hard drive, buying a 2.5” laptop hard drive (I’m assuming th TL uses a 2.5” Drive) enclosure that connects through USB to a computer, finding a program that will convert the files if needed, and then copying the files to a new drive that you can connect to a different car.

It can be done, but it’s more than a lot people would be willing or able to do.

There's more to it than that - and you're assuming the drives are not encrypted which I believe they are.

I did remove the drive and did attempt to slave it to multiple computers - none of which were able to read the file system. My plan was to do a 1:1 clone (retaining whatever security they had) and then toss in a SSD. By design they're (OEM Acura HDD) not intended to export data, only import from CD.

I don’t doubt you’re right. Way more trouble than it’s worth. I guess they designed it that way for a reason.
