Rear Sub

I've had my car 6 months, and I'm finally tired of deck sub rattle from ANY bass I have on. Dealership techs are all deaf it seems, and say the bass should be way down. Whats the point of having subwoofer if I have to turn it to -5 for the vibrate to stop. So I am taking my car to a local stereo shop to have them pad it with that insulation damper it hopes to stop the deck from making the rattle. Pisses me off to keep going to my dealer to have them not hear it or say its to loud. I am letting them do it so I don't screw something up.

honestly.. you dont even have to go to a stereo shop to do that.. you can just take it apart your self and add some sound deanding to it

My '08 did that too. I cured it by putting a sub box in my trunk!

The only way I know to fix the rattle is to add some foam weatherstripping to the rear deck section.. have th edealer do it if it's under warranty though.

Guys, I had the same problem with my 3G. The dealership fixed it by tightening down the seat belt screw attachments to the back deck. Not sure if it's the same fix for the 4G, but it's worth checking out.

Just curious if you guys think its worth it or any reason in any way to upgrade the stock sub. I'm not talking about adding a box or messing with the amp in any way... I'm simply talking about swapping the stock sub with something aftermarket.

The reason I ask is that I'm pretty happy with the system as is...however there are some songs that get low enough that I hear the stock sub struggling some. I'm curious if this is a sub or amp problem.

Is the 4G sub an open air sub like the 3G? Is so, then it can't get all that low by design.

Does anyone know the specs on this sub? I would like to add more bass to the car, but I don't want a box in my trunk, I would like to just swap the two out.

I just seen it, I scrolled through so fast I blew right past it, my bad. I think it is a great idea though and unless it is some uber special type of sub, it should be easy to do, hopefully.

I keep my sub turned to FULL 100% of the time and for the first 3 months I had 0 problems... now last week something in the back is rattling so fucking bad .... in 2 hours im taking my car to the dealer I hope they don't give me that same BS speach about having the bass turned up too high because I am going to fucking go off if that is the case.

Plus the Acura sales rep who sold me the car asked me how I liked my music and he configured the audio settings for me..

hmmmm how stupid does this sound...

Yes we have ELS high end stereo sound in our tech package!!! just dont raise the bass though.

I hope its just something loose or im the one whos going to get loose

I added a 12" to the trunk, and left the stock sub hooked up, use the 12's amp/crossover to feed it strong, and let the stock sub become kind of a mid bass, keeping the audio system tuned to midway on the sub. No rattles, and it pounds clearly.
