Rear camera fun
Rear camera fun
When I left the house yesterday, I had a garbage bag in my trunk that I was taking to the dumpster so I didn't close my trunk all the way, and when in reverse the camera showed a unique position in the nav screen, it was higher than normal! This little camera is bad ass with good motion quality! I must of drove around in reverse for 5 minutes looking at my surroundings and checking out things. I recommend you try it during the day with blue skies too, it quite amazing. And no I smoke crack...LOL.

Actually, if you use the "back door" and go into the diagnostic screens, there is an option that will allow you to activate (while in the diagnostic screen) the rear camera for making adjustments. If you access this while driving, you can see what's behind you. Be very careful in the diagnostic screens, though. You don't want to make any changes that could screw something up!

Someone confirm this as I'm not in the car, but its the large first two and the last buttons. So, simultaneously hold Cancel, MAP and MENU? Be careful in here, you could mess up a few things by getting button happy.
Besides the rear view camera, maybe the 4G should also come with a front end video camera too!! It will be useful for those situations when some stupid fool try to cut you off and drive irratically. Video-record the whole thing (saving and storing the footage is no issue because the 4G-tech model comes with a fairly big hard drive) and send it to the police and the fool's insurance company.
Sounds like you'd be interested in the WatchGuard DV-1.

the bumper is the most important thing to see in the camera....you need to see the bumper so you know where to put the bumper without hitting shit....
ya prob in pre-2009 models, bun 2009 TL, there are yellow lines to let you know how far you are from object. This is the most useful feature they put in there. On pre-09 there was some getting used to, with the bumper visual. 09 much better.
Yes, I forgot to mention how useful the yellow lines are. This really helps with parallel parking and generally alignment when trying to maneuver or line up with something. Very cool. Going further, it would be cool if you could have the option to manipulate those big yellow lines by making them transparent, so you could actually see more coverage area back there. Ya know, kind of like a Photoshop filter on a scale of 0 to 100% transparency, that would be sick!
Rattmann316 WTF are you talking about, and who are you directing that too? If your directing that too me, I see you have a 2003 TL? Slumming in the 4G section are we?

the camera on the RL and new TSX are ungodly stupid. They are pointed so low that I can see my bumper, but not behind me. How is it in the TL?
wish my car had that
