When you say it’s damaged, are you saying there’s some expose/cut wires or is it the unraveling of electrical tape? Replacing each of those wires maybe a big task because you will have to chase down where they go being It’s behind your dash, engine bay and etc. here’s is what mine looks like

if it’s damaged expose wires, the easy route would be to snip, extend with new wires, solder and heat shrink it. Just make sure your car battery is unplugged and you do one wire at a time. Also best practice whenever you can is to have your solder points not parallel with each other. So stagger your solder points so that way if there’s a short or expose wire, it’s not touching the other wires solder’ points

You are correct. If I remove the tape it appears as if someone shaved a bit of the protective plastic off each with with a potato peeler (if that makes any sense). I dont know how to solder....What type of person would I seek out to do this professionally? I am haviing them replace the Navigation wire harness already at the dealership...1800 BUX! and figured since they dash would be taked down anyway They could fix that also...but I want to see if I can order the
part and get it cheaper.

makes perfect sense. When I saw all that tape, I knew that didn’t look right and that maybe someone messed with it. If the wiring itself hasn’t been cut through and it’s just the covering that has been shaved off, you can get away with just rewrapping each wires individually with electrical tape. No soldering needed. Don’t use cheap tape though. I suggest getting the 3m brand. Make sure it’s a tight wrap unlike the loosely done job in the picture. I would check the one on the driver side too. Make sure that one isn’t Hacked up as well.

$1800?!? how come you’re getting your Navi harness replaced?

I mean it's a ground wire, is it even necessary to wrap each wire..? What's it going to do, short to ground? so long as the wires are intact, i'd just leave them be.

also, i misread the post thinking this was in the engine bay, not in the glove box... https://www.oemacuraparts.com/v-2011...wire-harness-3

it's likely in one of these wire harness categories... There's no reason to be replacing the entire wire harness for a couple of grounds.. just make sure they're making a good connection

I agree with you but for me, it would be peace of mind to wrap it if it’s expose but yeah, I wouldn’t replace the entire thing either.

Agree to above all. Don't mess around with good wiring unless it is damaged.

that is my guess as well. I mean that person was pretty lazy considering all they had to do was unbolt that bolt and add a separate terminal to it. Thats what I did on the driver side for my radar detector.

I m getting the harness or the navi replaced because the wires are OLLLLD and brittle and the yellow wire for the Steering wheel controls and the gourn wire BROKE off...And I am having a hell of a time finding an auto electrical specialist that can simply fix it. I imagined it would be easy, get a pin, extend the wire and call it a day. Here in Oakland California..Im just sick about it all...IM hoping this fixes the issue.
