Gracenote is supposed to update quarterly; that’s every three months. That’s what it says on their website….”quarterly”. The last update (for the 4G, anyway) was the October 2012 update. The next update should, then, have been January 2013, but they pushed it to February. But at the tail end of February, the site was updated to suggest the update was coming in March, and soon thereafter, it was pushed out further to April 2013. Today, it was pushed again to May 2013. That’s seven months for anybody counting; a far cry from “quarterly”.
I’ll admit I’m pissed. I’ve got about 8-10 albums on my HDD showing as “Other”, and it’s starting to look like I’ll have to input the info manually (which, although I love my TL, on an Acura is a laborious process).
What really bothers me is that this is simply a database update. It’s not programming a new OS, testing for bugs, or reworking hardware. It’s updating a database. What possible reason could there be for a delay?
Anyone actually believe something will come out in May?
**end of vent**

Surprisingly it works well for me. I had put in ripped CD and it recognizes it no problem. Out of about 100+ CD's i put on the HDD, it only has maybe 9 that are not recognized. I think not too bad.
Agreed on the quarterly updates, I hate when companies don't stand behind their services. If only I could remove the logo from the radio.

Auto HDD music boxes are doomed. I actually like the Infinit process, if the albums/songs are not recognized it it can export a hash to the USB thumb drive then run an app and it updates the info that you then reimport back to the HDD. The 13 M Infiniti removed the HDD music box.
Looks like either Navteq reads Acurazine, or maybe they listened to my complaints when I called them. Or maybe it's a coincidence...but it seems they've finally posted an update.

No, they don't update automatically. Navigate to an album listed as "other" or "no name" (can't remember which), and from there, you'll be able to get options that include "Get Album Info". You'll have to do it for each album.
Some won't update. My gracenote update only updated one out of the 10 or so unknowns on my HDD

Thanks for the link Sockpuppet! I'm downloading it right now. I'm not sure how old my current Gracenote info is, but I doubt the previous owner updated anything in the car. Seems like any CD that I put in from the past two years wasn't coming up with track info.
