OEM iPod Integration '09 vs '12

I am looking to purchase a new vehicle as I just sold my 2008 BMW 335i with iDrive, which had wonderful ipod integration.
Does the 09 TL have integration for the new iPod Nano's with lighting cable? Or am I better off buying a 2012 TL which some have said has a better iPod integration then the 2009?

I have 2011 TL and have found that I can play virtually any device through the cars speaker system so long as it has a USB connection available. This of course includes my iPhone 5s with its Lightening connector. I have also found that the system will display track data on the MID from any iPod like device. The 2011 system is an improvement over the 2008 version I had previously but is still a long ways from these types of systems offered in other newer cars. I was recently on a trip during which I rented three cars: Toyota Camry, Chevy Cruze and Ford Fusion. I had to do no more than turn my phone on and I was connected to the system. Acura had not reached that point at 2011. Maybe on the '12.....

An easy solution: go to your dealer and ask them to demonstrate the feature on one of their Used models. Seeing (and hearing) is believing.

Just bought an 09 TL AWD and I'm truly disappointed with the iPod connectivity.
I thought it would at least show the name of the song playing but it doesn't.
Would NavTool show the iPod information on screen?

Use the USB connection. I have it connected and I can see my playlists. I have an 2009 with Tech option.
