yes, you'll need a piece of hardware to convert signals.
this piece of hardware comes in different names, but do the same thing. you're looking for a "tvtonav" unit, or whatever names they go by.

however, these units SUCK! not the best in reliabilty, IF YOU CAN EVEN find one. and since resolution is so low, not even worth the $100-whatever price they ask for.

the better option would be to retrofit a tablet into your dash.

I dunno if we've had this conversation before or if it was with someone else, but lately their customer support has gotten better. I purchased one earlier this year and their support was quick and effortless.

I use the navtool and it works great. I have a wifi wireless HDMI adapter plugged into it and I can steam anything via my phone or tablet to the sceen. Works like a charm.

What adaptor do you use? I'm using the chromecast but I think I could get a better system going w/ a better HDMI adaptor.

Navtools will likely be my next mod for my TL. For those who have it. Is it an easy install or should I take it to a pro shop to get the installation done?

It pretty easy to take it apart, Putting it all together is a pita. There is not much room behind the radio so it takes some trial and error to place it so it all fits.

Taking it apart is very simple. I suggest you have magnetic drivers else you're gonna drop the bolts for the radio. As for placing the unit, trying to place it behind the radio is near impossible. I tried for an hour or two before getting fed up. I opened up the center console and placed the unit right next to the shift lever. 1000x simpler. Save yourself the headache and do it like that from the start. I would also run a USB and hdmi extension to a place where it's easier to reach incase you want to change your hdmi unit in the future. I made a small hole in the armrest and my chrome cast sits inside there.
