iPod Browsing Control

I have plugged in my iPod Touch through the integrated USB port. I go to search music menu. I have a lot of songs and artist on my iPod. Whenever I try to find a song or artist that is at the end of the alphabet, I have to scroll for a long time to get to it. Is there a way for me to browse faster? For example, I begin my search at 'A', and I want to go to 'S'. Thanks.

i do either two things

i have a playlist that is organized by artist alphabetically and i just skip songs to find an artist based on the song #

for example on my ipod the "m"s are near the middle of the # out of #

or you can search for the song on the actual ipod and play it then plug it in and it continue through the car

seeing as you have an iPod touch you should have considerably less songs on there than i do (i have 14,000 songs) and doing the first method should be easier

i only use the first method on my playlists (which are usually around 20-100 songs with one exception of 1200 4 and 5 starred songs)

Yeah it'd be better if the iPod controls were similar to the controls for navigating through phone contacts (A - I, J - O, etc.).

Thanks. I will try the first method and see how that goes. That is pretty intuitive. Thanks.

There's similar thread to this one in the forum, it's all about the playlist to cut down your scroll time.

Reorganizing your entire iPOD to put everything into playlists is a work around, but can take some time. I was very disappointed when I saw how long it takes to get to the bottom of my artist menu. I find myself listening to the artists at the beginning of the list much more than those at the bottom, just because of how long it takes to get to the bottom. I have 700 something artists. This is sub par for Acura IMHO.

You're not reorganizing your iPod. You're just adding playlists. When the iPod is disconnected you can browse through it exactly as you always could. Just create smart playlists for each letter of the alphabet and then load the playlists onto the device.

This is my first car that had a direct connection for the ipod so I don't know how other cars handle it. I do know that MB and BMW wanted to charge me more money for the ipod connector...
