HTC Evo
Picked up the HTC Evo from Radio Shack on friday, and just paired it tonight with the TL (Birthday weekend, wasnt in my car much)...phone is badass, HFL works fantastic so far, sound quality over BT is great, better than my iPhone 3g/3gs are..BUT the BT audio for music sounds terrible, using High Quality VBR mp3's (same files as iphone) they sound muddled and distorted on the Evo...Its like the pros and cons are switched...my iphone has great BT audio sound and mediocre call sound quality, Evo has great call sound quality over BT but terrible music
oh...and Evo can change songs via channel up/down on the steering wheel, a feature I wished the iphone would have

^I tried as well and it doesn't connect, only charges. For whatever reason it's unsupported. Maybe a software update in the future can fix that. For now you can use BT audio or the aux cable, tech models have a decent sized hard drive to store music on too.

I connected mine through the usb cable and it works fine. When you plug it in, the phone has a message to select "charge only" or "connect as a hard drive" I connected mine as a hard drive and can play the music stored on the phone.

Nice, I ran into that same issue connecting it to my PC and changed the connection type and it worked fine but I didn't even think twice about if for the car, just assumed it was not compatible. That was obvious enough, thanks.

Ok after changing the connection type to hard drive, I still got the unsupported message like mwbarb was talking about but after playing with all the different connection types and turning off debugging (not sure if that had anything to do with it or not), it did finally read correctly.

Thanks for the update. I'll have to try again tonight and see if turning off USB debugging and choosing the "Mount as disk drive" option works for me.
I'm curious if you guys have a custom ROM on your EVO or if you're running the stock ROM. Also, have you partitioned or formatted your SD card in any particular way? Just want to make sure that I'm able to make mine work as it sounds like you've gotten it to work.
Are you able to access all your contacts, music, etc when you mount your EVO via USB? Does wifi tethering work for purposes of connecting with AcuraLink?

No custom ROM or any formatting or partioning on mine.
Just make sure the TL's audio system is set to USB mode and the phone is set to "mount as disk drive". All controls for the audio files will de done on the vehicle and can't be accessed on the phone.
As long as BT is on, everything else works fine even while conneted through the USB.
The Acuralink is unable to connect through the Sprint network and it is supposed to operate through BT so no need for the wireless tethering. Just because, I tried sharing the phone's data connection through the USB but it's not compatible in either case. The majority of Acuralink function still work without a cellular network connection so not a big deal.
If you are going to try, just be aware it slowed down my phone to where it was nearly unresponsive in both cases. If you experience that just hold the power botton and patiently go through the shut down procedure, once you power it back on it's fine.
As far as the OP's comment on audio over BT, perhaps there is a difference compared to the BT on the IP or another device but I didn't notice any distortion or muddling. It is almost like a really soft mute compared to the USB playback but the quality is still really good. Not as sharp or as loud but very clear nontheless.

Just picked up an EVO and paired it to my 2010 TL. Everything works great, but the phone book won't import. Have you other EVO users had success importing your phone books? Had the same problem with my old Treo - I'm beginning to think it's the car and not the phone.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I'd live with that for now! I got nothing.
Thanks for the response. Guess I'll need to talk to the "Tech Tutor" at my dealer when I have it in for service.

Went out in one last, desperate attempt to import my Evo's phone book. On the second try, SUCCESS, at last.
Very slick.
