Help with USB connection to hard drive?

I'm a newbie here and a new TL owner...

I purchased a 160GB USB 2.0 HDD and loaded it up with about 30GB of music with the hopes of using it as my main music source in the car (2009 Base TL w/ Tech).

When I plug the HDD into the USB jack, I can hear the drive spinning, but the center console just says "LOAD" and the upper (nav) screen says there's "No Data".

Am I trying to use an incompatible HDD, or is the car indexing my music (and it takes a long time)?

Any help here is much appreciated!!

with 30 GB's of music it might be tough for the drive to access it. If memory serves me correct, I think the owners manual said 8GB's on flash drives were the max...

32GB USB flash stick works

I was able to use up to a 32GB USB flash drive with about 5000 songs on it with no problems. I tried a 64GB, but it just sat on the "loading" message similar to what vinniepham is seeing.

FYI, you might have problems with portable hard drives, since many of them need 2 separate USB connections to supply enough power to work properly.

It's got to be compatibility/format then. I'd make a call to Acura to find out what the USB connection requirements look for?
