The only files that will rip to the HDD is CDA files found on CDs. I doubt there is software available on the HDD to decode DVD-A of DTS.. sadly.

I wish we could or that we had the 6 disc changer back

Better question is why we do not have choice of bitrate/music quality on the rip.
What if I want original CD quality music without compression, and don't want 1000+ songs on my HDD? Why tout an ELS system but force us to use 128kps equivalent compression on the HDD? Yuck.

I agree. My ripped songs sound a bit hollow compared to the source CD
