Gracenote Database Update
I just updated the Gracenote database for the first time since I bought my TL (February, 2009). I downloaded the update on to my computer, unzipped it, and from there to a flash drive. It worked like a charm. (I have a Mac) The website indicates that an updated database will be available in August, 2009.

and the question is - did the system now recognize any songs it didn't have titles for b4?

Just installed myself via CD-R as my usb drive sucks..install took about 10-15 minutes. After go to your NO TITLE albums, and click the get album info and it should get the info if it's there. I had 5 no title albums now I only have 1 :-)

New update
I have been unable to get my HDD to recognize the new update I downloaded from Acura (10.06.0010) both on CD and on USB flash drive. The current version listed on my car's HDD Gracenote info screen is 09.06.0010, so I know the verson i have downloaded is newer, but the car tells me it cannot find a newer version on either of the media sources I have tried. Does anyone have any helpful tips?

It looks like they haven't updated the site, but the download is dated Feb-2010.

Bump, looks like there is an update from May 2011 (Says the next update is due in July) that is now available, given my build date prior to March I'm downloading now and hoping that it works in my '12 even though it says it's not supported, I have a feeling that's a non issue.
I'll report back if it does/doesn't work.

Good news is that it updated, but the CD I attempted to load (Pearl Jam live on 10 legs) isn't in that update, oh well, there's always next time!
I'm starting to think that just tossing my entire iTunes library (about 20gb) onto a thumb drive will be much easier lol.

So I just downloaded the latest zip file from the website and I'm having an issue. I unzipped the file with WinRAR and keep getting an error that says "unexpected end of archive". It won't let me decompress the files or anything.
Has anyone ran into this problem? Could it be something to do with WinRAR? Should I download the zip file again?

First, yes, I'd re-download it, zip and rar files have checksums, which is sounds as if that's what you hit.
On a side note....
Why would you use winrar to unzip, just let XP's (or vista, or 7) native compressed folder utility extract it?
I had no issues on OSX either.

Finally got the update to work. And of course it only found one of my untitled albums. The newest Fleet Foxes and Beastie Boy albums didn't pull. They both came out on May 3rd so this update must have just missed them.
I guess there is always October. Or manually entering them in, but that is not fun!

Anyone recently tried to update gracenote? I don't know why I am having a hard time trying to check the audio gracenote version in my audio system.
I have 2012 FWD TL and no matter how long I am holding the AUX button, it won't go to any menus.

Just go to Audio, then HDD, then you should go to HDD Setup. You don't hold the AUX button down or anything. Just scroll to the HDD and then use the wheel to go to HDD Setup.
You'll find the Gracenote Info/Update there.

How long does it usually take for the update to load into the system (in the car)? I obtained the latest files and put on a USB drive and tried to load into the HDD in the car, but after about 15 minutes I was still getting an "updating" screen, like it was still in process. I assume it's supposed to eventually say "complete". I stopped because I was done driving the car and I didn't want to run down the battery/run the engine. I'm wondering if I did something wrong with the files I copied onto the drive, but I would hope it would give me an error message in that case. (2012 TSX Wagon). Maybe I'm just not patient enough. I have the drive about half full with music, if that matters.

If you're updating, though, you might consider that the latest update is now overdue, and will likely be out in the next month or so.

Thanks for the heads up. Maybe I'll wait, or maybe I'll try it again just to see if it works. It sounds like I didn't give it quite enough time to finish. Updating doesn't erase playlists, does it? I think I read that if I have changed info, it wipes that out, and I may have done that on a CD that burned in with no song titles, but that's not a big deal. I'm curious, by the way, on how many people use this HDD feature. I get the impression it's not used much and will seem as dated as a CD changer in the near future. But I like it.

Updating won't affect your playlists.
As to how much it gets used, that dpends; some guys here prefer to plug in an iPod, and some rely on spotify/pandora. I personally haven't (yet) bought into Apple, and don't like burning through that much data (not a criticism of those who do...I'm just cheap). One advantage to the HDD system is that I'll often take a cd I'm on the fence about out of the library, and listen on the way home. If I like, I've got it on the HDD, and if not, I delete.
I only wish the Gracenote updates were better. It's about 60/40 on recognition, and generally nothing newer than 8 months. Strangely, the Honda update (which comes out at the same time), seems to be able to catch and tag more than the update for the TL.
