Anyone know the song list on the demo disc
I have the one from '05
Wanted to see if there's new tunes to enjoy:

 

When I got the 09 TL SH-AWD loaner for 10 days, the demo DVD-A was just same as my 07 TL-S DVD-A.

Nothing new....

 

the silly part is that acura didn't include it in the gracenotes database so the song titles don't show on the navi.

 

My 2009 TL Tech came with:

China Groove, Earthquake Weather, Over and Out, Trans-Island Skyway, Let's Fall In Love, Kiss from a Rose, What is Rock, Rocky Mountain Way (Live), etc..

So is this an old Demo DVD? I've yet to see DVD-A show titles, does anyone have commercial DVD-A's with Gracenote compatibility?

My demo disc came with all those songs on it.

So I guess the 2009 Demo DVD-A is not new. The Beck song is growing on me, I just can't catch his lyrics? That mumblin' facker.

I have 10 or so and none have titles. . .I don't think its feasible with DVD-A. . .

 

Well there's one thing that takes the name versatile out of D-V-D.

 

My '09 AWD I picked up in late Feb'09 came with a different DVD-A sampler... it has Fly Like an Eagle, some Steely Dan (or Donald Fagen) songs, a Diana Krall song Pick Yourself Up, Dire Straits Money for Nothin', Simple Plan's Me Against the WOrld, Eagles' One of these Nights, Boz Scaggs song, Foo Fighters' Over & Out, The Doors' Touch Me, and a few more.

Love this disk, but would really love to hear the other one you guys seem to have... strange how Acura has different demo disks in the same car in the same year with the same stereo? Anyone know if dealers stock these?

 

Is the Fly Like an Eagle version extended or the radio edit? The short version sucks. Which Steely Dan song please? Any current pop stuff, Rap or R&B? They always seem to throw in one of those tracks. I'd like to compile all of these into one DVD-A without the demo stuff.

Where is the demo DVD_a disc? I never got one it seems :|

 

Correct. The cars produced in the first few months had the old disc included. Later cars came with the new disc. The new one is really good!

 

My friend just picked up a Mercedes C 550 two months ago at around the same time I got my 2009 TL SHAWD Tech and we have exchanged DVD-A albums and on his car that is powered by Gracenote it will read the Album name on all albums and on some even the track name. Also if the car is not moving it will play the DVD Video section of the DVD-A. All this with the option of loading up to 6 DVD-A at one time. In any case I know this car is worth more than double the amount we paid for our cars but Gracenote is Gracenote. I am starting to think there is different levels of subscription for Gracenote and that Acura opted for a lower tier one. His revision number of Gracenote is also different than our latest one. In any case I home is an option that Acura will offer via a Gracenote update in the future.

 

I picked up an 09 base model last night. It did not come with an Audio demo disk. Since I had the audio demo disk that came with my 05 tl, I tried playing it in the 09 -- it did not play. When I asked the dealer why it would not play on the 09, I was told the 09 did not play DVD audio (the cover of the 05 demo dvd says "DVD Audio").

My question is:

For those of you that purchase the base TL, did you get a demo AUDIO disk?

 

Don't have a base, so I can't answer that specific question, but it is true, according to the owner's manual, that the base 09 TL's cannot play DVD-Audio disks. Since the point of the demo disk was to show off the surround sound capabilities of the DVD-Audio format, I would not be surprised to find out that there is no demo CD for the base level TL.

danimal1968 is correct on that statement. To your benefit you do have a CD changer.
A tech package only comes with a single CD/DVD-A player. I have a Tech and I hate having to change the CD/DVD every time I want to listen to something different. The only good thing is that you could record the CD (Not DVD-A) onto the built-in hard drive of the navigation system. About 2,500 songs fit (don't quote me on this number). Also available is a USB interface for Ipod and I flash drive that interfaces very well with the radio as well as Bluetooth audio. So I guess it makes up for the CD changer option. In any case PM me if you will like to sell me your DVD-A. I have the new demo but I have been trying to find the old demo.

 

I have not in at all missed the 6 CD changer from my 3G. w/ iPods and usb drives, & the HD. If I was able to actually find DVD-As of newer music I might miss not be able to load several DVD-As - otherwise the DVD-A is just a future failure of tech past - like laser discs. - never caught on. just being able to make a large play list on an iPod beats CDs to the point of - the CD will also be come part of tech past. I heard the other day that some music sellers are starting to limit CD sales to larger retailers such as Walmart. (cutting out the few remaining smaller retailers)

Yes the move towards physical media pieces is going away. Slowly. When I first read about the HDD, I was hoping that Acura would of come up with some sort of option in the TL to transfer files via a WIFI network when I first read about it, but maybe in the next models.
