DVD 5.1 actually playing a DVD movie?
Does anyone know if it's easy to allow the system to play movie DVD's using the stock DVD player in the car?
I mean it is technically capable of reading them. There has to be a way of playing video on there?
Also curious, can we play any type of video, from removable devices or ipod?
Thanks!

The player is only for audio and not for video so no, it won't be able to play movies. Also, there's no line in for video, just audio so no go on that part too. The only way would be to wait for some company to release an interface that will use the display for video. There was one that claimed they made one but that didn't work out.

I know they made a P&P unit for the 3G... not sure if they have a P&P for the 4G, but it would be very minor wire splicing
essentially, you go in the trunk, pull out the Navi drive harness, splice a wire or two, hook it up to the doms unit... then that unit has some audio video wires, so you can hook up an analog (RCA cable) DVD player...
you will need to install some type of "switch" up front, to toggle between DVD video, and all the OEM functions... then you will need to some how get the audio to your headunit... either via an FM transmitter (easiest) or hardwiring it in through your aux input in the center console
