Bought the car in Aug...almost immediately spent some time at Gatlinburg, TN...stayed in the boondocks about 15 miles East of Gatlinburg and was impressed with the accuracy and ease of use of the Nav system...every little back road was shown on the Nav system.

Same isn't true for my hometown area of Columbus, IN. A city of about 35k 40 miles south of Indy. As soon as you leave a state road the Nav system is useless...tells me I'm entering an unverfied area. I wouldn't expect a new development or road to be in the system's memory, but these county roads have been here for as long as it's been a county!!

Lessen learned: Live near a tourist area!!!

From what I've seen with my other Acuras this "unverified area" for Columbus, IN appears to only be an issue with 2012 or newer TLs. I also have a 2012 MDX and it never warns of unverified areas and I had a 2011 RDX (disc based Nav) and it never warned either. It got so bad here in town that I've had to mute my navigation audio so it doesn't warn me every time I leave and enter my neighborhood. I've just had to get used to ignoring the beep every time it flashes on my screen.

Maybe a shot in the dark but you could always try the new map dvd....

 

You can always contact Acura client services and report it. They might be able to do something to help you.

 

You can shut those notifications off in the settings.

 

It's not the window that pops up and covers the screen and makes you click OK to continue. It's the rectangle that flashes at the top of the screen that reads "entering unverified area". It automatically goes away.

 

I understand. Somehow, I have shut that off and do not get those indications at all. Either that, or all the areas I regularly travel in have been verified without having any kind of update done on my nav system.
