Current XM rates in the TL

I just got a notice from XM, and I won't go into the mix up they are causing about the transfer of my service from the 05' TL to 09' TL, but some poor XM employee is gonna get an earful tomorrow morning as I already straightened this out in December!!!

But anyway here are the rates that they have posted in the statement:

(--------------XM EVERYTHING----------------------) (-------XM EVERYTHING Plus Best of Sirius-------)
Billing Cycle:---------Audio Only--------Audio+Nav/Traffic----------Audio Only------------Audio+Nav/Traffic

Monthly----------------$12.95----------------$16.94--------------------$16.99------------------$20.98
3-Month----------------$38.85----------------$50.82--------------------$50.97------------------$62.94
1-Year-----------------$142.45--------------$190.33-------------------$186.89-----------------$234.77

Anyone see anything else?

don't pay more than $77 for the radio only per year. Nav traffic n weather is 3 or 4 $ each per month. Haven't seen that discounted yet. See the long thread under 3G. Nav or audio sub forum.

I thought it was forbidden to go to the 3G section, the haters might take a shot at me...LOL. JK. Anyway I think I'm gonna drop XM in May when my year subscription runs out, unless they bring back the XM channels the wrongly deleted during the merger. The only channel I like from Sirius is the 80's 1st wave channel, that's kinda fun at times. Four channels of todays rap just blows...

At first I thought I would like it, but the traffic is hardly useful or correct, weather I can get from other sources, and the radio I can live without it.

go to the 3g forum, under nav/audio/whatever else section, there is a post about xm for 77 bucks a year...i am on my second year at 77, and i used it for my wifes sirius to get it for 80 bucks a year...

basically your just telling them to cancel you out and that you dont want to pay full price and then they send you to a cancelation specialist who will try to keep you as a customer...then they will offer you the half price deal to keep you...just read the thread and follow the directions...it works...why pay full price when you can get it for half....

+1 to that. I've been paying $77/year since '07. Just use the script in the 3G section. Works like a charm.

Worst experience as a consumer I've EVER had, dealing with XM over the past month trying to get traffic, weather, and best of sirius. Absolutely mind boggling how they still are unable to get this package correct in my car. I went so far as to cancel the whole thing and hook up my portable sirius radio again =(

what does your sirius cost you? - If you change your mind and want to try again - it's not hard to get the $77/yr for radio rate - I have had it forever.
Its almost a game - what can they mess up and what rate can you get or better how fast can you get the $77 rate.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=633759
link again

cant wait to see what they mess up when my weather/traffic trial ends - if I decide to keep it. I already posted b4 about just transferring my old xm acc to new car - screwed up the weather/traffic trial - only took most of a Sunday am to correct

If some one gets better than the advertised rate for traffic/weather - be sure to let us know

Since you bring it up... They are beyond stupid when it comes to customer service. In December, I made a very stern phone call to make sure that they get everything correct from transferring my 05 account to the 09 account. And the statement I received yesterday was a mess. My name was wrong and the account was going to expire in a month, and not too mention the rate was going to double. I just got of the phone with Cliff, if you get him, hang up and call again, this poor guy has no idea how to talk to customers, I think he finally got it right, but I'm gonna call back and make sure.

It's not just XM these days. Everywhere you call the customer support is horrendous! Dishnetwork, DirecTV, AT&T, Time Warner Cable, Wells Fargo Bank, and the list goes on. The management is the problem not the kids trying to handle the support, poor training and tutelage. Unfortunately it's my generation and above that needs a kick in the ass!

XM tops my list for the most confused Customer Service Reps - I have never had as much fun w/ anyone else's cust serv - and yes the billing is the worst

Problem is, I want my Howard Stern, and I've spent a grand total of 12 hours on the phone with XM, calling them every day over 10 or so days, trying to get them to add Best of Sirius to my XM. Every time they send the signal, something else stops working. ONE TIME I had traffic, weather, sirius working at one time. Then when I got in the car the next day, all 3 disappeared lol. I now still have nothing, even though I'm still on my trial period. Apparently, because of their stupidity, THE ONLY WAY I can get Stern is through my old Sirius radio =( For me to give up on something that I've wanted for two years (sirius built into the car) says ALOT about the situation...

I'm at my wits end bro, it's bothering me soooooooooo much. I'm gonna use the portable radio for 3 months. After my trial is over, I'll give them one last chance. If they still can't get it right (at that point it'll just be XM with best of Sirius), I'll cancel the whole frigging thing.

They have major prblms w/ transfering a radio account and at the same time not knocking out your free nav/weather traffic. - Thats what happened to me - I finally got them to fix it. Once the trial is up I'm sure I'll be due another round of who knows what on the phone w/ xm
Sad Hydro = you want to use there service - yet they cant set it up correctly - someday they may be going the way of the DVD A

Seriously man, I've never seen a for-profit company actively work so hard to lose subscribers lol. It's almost like they're trying to drive their stock price down to zero. I've already lost $7000 in their stock, so now I'm actually hoping they go out of business. I'd rather it go down to zero than me sell it for a $700 at this point. I hate them.

Yet it's odd, new cars coming out are flagrantly displaying "XM" as a bonus feature too? That's just hillarious!

I had the same problem when I added the best of Sirius to XM but it was corrected eventually. For me the problem was with the disappearance of Weather/Traffic. I had one customer service rep actually tell me that Weather/Traffic features were not available on the 2009 TL! I had to laugh about that one, especially when I told her that they were present BEFORE the addition of the Best of Sirius!

I'm glad the two satellite radio companies merged; I had a professional install of Sirius in my TSX back in 2005 and would have done the same in this car if the "Best Of" weren't available. As Marianne from Brooklyn would say, "All I need is Howard in my Life!"

CACKAW! CACKAW! LOL!

It's crazy man. I got in the car last night, after having given up on them and actually paying $12.95 to hook my portable back up, and I saw the TRF icon on my Nav. Inexplicably, out of absolutely nowhere, after A MONTH OF NONSENSE, it just works all of a sudden. I have traffic, I have weather, and God Bless, I have Howard. I don't know how, I don't know why, I just do. Sadly, come March 18th, they're gonna shut it off and I'll have to suffer the same miserable fate all over again. After which, you'll see me atop the Brooklyn College clocktower like this guy

Has anyone ever thought that the reason the Sirius/XM is loosing money has any corrolation with folks paying half-price subscriptions....

Just remember if they go out of business we're back to commercial FM radio.

I'm thinking it (losing $) also has something to do w/ mp3 players/iPods/iPhones - play what you want when you want -
rate increase - will serve to drive down subscription rates

(not that we didn't see rate increase coming w/ the merger)

going to be a hard sell

I'm sure if that were the case someone would step up, probably Apple or Pandora. Apple wouldn't surprise me by taking their iTunes mobile. Have seen how many radio streams there are in iTunes, it's sick! Some of the stations have decent quality too! Pandora is pretty sweet too, I love it on the iPhone and it doesn't always require to be connected to a WIFI, the 3G or Edge networks will pick it up, but with the WIFI connection is seamless.

Then everyone would only want to pay half the price for whatever Apple would want to charge... Bet it will be more than $77 a year...

Just look at the big picture folks, if Sirius/XM doesn't start making a profit, that "XM" Button is going to be useless.

The XM button became usless when it became the XM/Sirius button, at least for me, they took away my favorites stations.

I'm now a victim of XM...
Called in saturday to merge my old account with the new one, which went really smoothly. Next morning I noticed my TL had lost navi-traffic and weather. So, after calling several times a day for three days, nothing. They have repeatedly sent updates and refreshed but to no avail. Once the traffic/weather came back for an hour. But once I turned off the car, it again says that the traffic/weather are not activated.
Customer service claims my XM radio has a bad "chip" which seems to have magically failed at the exact time I called customer service. They now want me to go to the dealer for a radio reset/repair.
The dealer can't get me in until next week. So looks like I should never have called customer service! Tech support did say that Acura has a problem with the radios, which seems to happen frequently, or so they say. Vince at the service department for Acura told me that only one radio has gone bad in three years...To those with the same problem, I'm feeling your pain.

you and I know it isn't the radio. Radio, Traffic, and Weather were all working fine. Call to merge old account - lose traf/weather - same for me as for u. Do NOT waste your time taking the car to the dealer. I told the xm rep - it was working until you merged the accounts - she tried to get me to pay for traf/weather b4 my free trail was up. I told her if you can't fix it - get your sup on the phone. - finally fixed after 6hrs on my day off. cant wait to repeat it when the free traf/weather trial expires.

If you get Cliff at XM, hang up and call again for someone else. I lost count on how many times he put me on hold. And no offense to the southern accented folks, but he didn't tawk tu guud. LOL. Yo Doc, Vince is right, the Acura manufactured radios are not the issue. You all realize nothing was ever a problem with XM until the merger right? It's management at XM/Sirius, period. They gave Howard Stern too big of a contract, now they can't pay him, so we have to pay. F Howard Stern and his retarded show!

For those who stream XM on the home computer, check out this bullshit notice:

So...for those of you who have gotten this problem fixed, what did you do or say? I spoke with a supervisor yesterday, Andre, who was rude and kept insisting my equipment has failed. I did point out repeatedly that all was well until they merged my accounts. No dice.

So, if anyone has any tips or key insights, please share. Otherwise I'll go to the dealership, let them tell me the radio is fine, then I'll start calling XM again...

Yo Doc, all the tips and insight lay with XM. Especially because everything worked fine before they merged your accounts. I would not go to the dealership to have them poke around taking shit apart for something that's not a hardware issue. Hey where's my buddy Type34, let's all get litigious!

All I know is, I totally gave up and accepted the fact that I had no Sirius or nav/traffic. I even went so far as to hook up my portable Sirius. Then all of a sudden, it just worked. Still holding my breath though, and every time I get in the car I kind of grit my teeth as I hit that button, expecting it to suddenly not work lol. Not saying you'll get that lucky, but definitely don't waste your time going to the dealership. It's XM, and they're utterly horrific.

I'm on my third year at $77, as are my wife & daughter (two Accords). I don't get the traffic because it's basically useless - the speed colors might as well be painted on the screen, they almost never change at rush hour even though the actual speeds vary significantly, and the incident icons have limited availability and are rarely current. The local traffic reports and the XM channel 214 reports are much more useful.

At $77, the radio is borderline - there's no way I'd pay twice that with all the other free choices I have. I'm listening to mp3s or CDs a good bit of the time anyway, not to mention the free AM or FM stations.

Now if only they would include all the other weather data available over XM to aviators...flight planning in the car on the way to the airport FTW

Actually we joke but it's almost true--there is almost more information available in the cockpit from XM and a few other sources than are available on the ground...

we had an XM traffic / weather station here in DFW - but now I noticed it moved and we 'share' the station w/ the Houston's traffic and weather.

Doc - I feel your frustration - any wonder why their $#s were so bad even b4 the current state of the economy?
You may have to take it to the Acura Dealer and let them waste their time on the phone w/ XM - as I doubt this is the 1st they have heard this. Tell them to do what they can w/o opening up the dash (at least at first) - explain the situation w/ how it was working until the account merge and share w/ them our stories of the same thing happening.
keep us up to date.

Completely disagree. I've talked to 100 of those idiots over the past month, and I didn't encounter ONEEEEE person who was able to help me with this exact problem. All I was met with was utter stupidity and ineptitude. Unless your dealer is Mel Karmazin's cousin, I don't think you're getting anywhere. It's gonna be a real waste of time.
