Constant Phonebook "Importing" on 2012 TL

The problem that I was having (the Acura system would read my wife's phonebook and call history but not mine) suddenly corrected itself. I had decided to try my phone again and the system started exhibiting the usual symptoms (importing screen would seem to hang) but then suddenly after a few seconds the system successfully retrieved my phonebook and history for no apparent reason and it has worked fine since then.

Then, click the first link (trunk spoiler), wait for it to finish loading.
Now click the TSB link. Did it work (hopefully)?

Good find macguitar!
I am interested to know what the behavior will be after the fix? Does it go back to the old way of requiring manual reloads, or is there an option now provided between auto and manual reloads? Having used it for some time, I actually like the auto reloads and they are pretty quick too. Always good to have options though if that is what the update offers.

Great news! There is now a software fix for this issue:

You'll need to open this page first:
http://estore.honda.com/acura/access...L&modelName=TL
(open one of the documents from the link above before opening the TSB).

I just bought the 2012 TL, base unit, I'm unable to sync my phone book with the HFL, I called the factory & they said it required a "Tech package" or Nav. package to do so. Is this correct? Any help would be greatly appreciate. Thanks.
#50
Totally incorrect. You have bluetooth, its the little 'phone' button on the steering wheel. Your sales consultant should have paired it for you when you took delivery. Why did you call the factory and not your sales guy?
#51
They both told me the same thing (sales & service guy); i was able to pair it, talk & listen to music via bluetooth but unable to sync all my phone contacts to the HFC. Do you have the TL base model as well?
#52
My apologies, I misread your first post. I thought you were having problems with pairing and we're being told that you had to get a Tech package to get hands-free link. Depending on the phone model, it may be possible to import contacts, but most likely you will need to enter them manually. You can always call the hands-free link toll-free number for more help. I have found them excellent in every dealing that I, or a customer, have had with them.
#54
Just so you know, what you have isn't all that bad. There are a number of people who don't really care for the way the technology package incorporates voice dialing. It takes far more steps to effect a call with the technology package than it does with the base model. Once you store a voice tag you can place the call with two button pushes. "Call John Doe" and after the confirmation, you say "yes" and the call is initiated.

The bogosity of HFL on the Tech Package is fodder for a potential class action lawsuit.
Lawyers will get millions and customers will get a free AOL floppy disk and the feature will still not work.
Urrrr...

Yeah, I am waiting until my next oil change and will print the TSB and take it with me too because talking to them over the phone and even emailing the TSB got me nowhere.

I have the same problem with my 2010 TL Tech with Iphone 4S (IOS 5).
I can't seem to access the TSB. Can anyone put on 4shared or something?
EDIT: Here's the TSB http://www.4shared.com/office/8kU72Dto/B11-016.html

Ok I this working using info from WWW.HandsFreeLink.com. I pulled up the compatibility info for the iphone 4S. There was a note stating:
" Some owners have experienced phonebook import issues with their iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S with the iOS5 update. Below are instructions for your phone to help import your phonebook into HandsFreeLink. 1) Pair the phone with HandsFreeLink in your vehicle. 2) Select INFO on your phone. 3) Select Cellular Phonebook. 4) Select Import Cellular Phonebook. 5) You should now see "Importing phonebook" on the Navi screen 6) At this time you need to go in the Bluetooth menu in the iPhone (Settings>General>Bluetooth), you will see HandsFreeLink Connected listed as a paired device; you simply need to touch this device name. 7) A prompt will pop up on the iPhone indicating that it has lost connection with HFL,select OK at this prompt. 8) The Navigation screen will now change to say "Loading Phonebook" 9) After a few minutes the contacts will be imported."
I clicked the link as it was importing and it worked!!!!
Now only if I can get my text message sounds to come through the phone and not the HFL!!!

I'm having the same issues with my iPhone 4 and my 2012 Tech TL. I also tried to access the URL macguitar posted with the same result fleming23 had. Is there really a fix for this problem? My dealer doesn't seem to know about it...

something else i've noticed.. is that now when i go to input an address and go to the next page (move to the right) i have a navigate to a business by inputing their phone number.. i really didnt notice this before the upgrade; is this something new or am i just dumb? lol
#76
I may have a related problem, when my Recent Call list imports (every time), the date and time just have default symbols, the date and time are not imported. Do you know if this Service Bulletin corrects this? It's not explicitly stated.

i managed to fix mine
i had the same issue as yours, this morning i made it load my phonebook after 3 days of trial and error.
1st, disable bluetooth on phone
2nd , delete phone from Acura (settings)
3rd on phone goto contacts and go to display options, and just make sure you
turn off Facebook, gmail etc etc options off. make it only displays contacts with phone numbers.
4th repair phone again with car,
5th in phone turn off share media via bluetooth (in phone go to bluetooth menu select the car , (long press ) and only have it use bluetooth for phone calls and not playing mp3 and other media files
6th and try reloading contacts, this might work.

My 2012 TL is still on the 2.10 firmware and has to import contacts constantly. Will a new navigation update disc bring with it the latest updates to the system?

I do remember there being a Tech bulletin out about updating the system to fix the issue. I am due an oil change in the next month so I will find out when I take the car in for service. My 2012 TL have been sitting for the past year and a half due to me being out of the country. If you find out before I do please post your findings. Thanks!!
