Can't write Wallpaper to HDD?

I found some threads where the HDD wouldn't recognize a USB drive at all, but I have a different problem. The HDD can read the drive, and it lists my .jpg files. But when I select any of them, I get a message saying that it cannot be written to the HDD at this time, try again later.

The images are all from the wallpaper thread here, FWIW.

I believe only audio files can be loaded to the HDD. You have to load your pics by going through your wallpaper settings and importing them.

Thanks...yeah, I'm going through the Settings > Import menu. It reads the USB drive to identify the images, but when I select them for import, I get an error message that the system can't write to the HDD.

Also, I don't think you can load audio files via USB, either, have to use a CD.

I don't remember the exact path you follow but try it going through the wallpaper submenu.

I didn't even think about the fact you load the HDD via CD. I actually haven't loaded anything to the HDD yet because my iPod holds all my music.

Thanks...I had the path correct. I tried it with a different flash drive just for grins, and it worked.

As for the HDD, yeah, with and iPod/iPhone, I can't see any reason to load to the HDD. I ripped everything I wanted from my CDs to my iPhone long ago. Next step for me is trying to get some FLACs converted to DVD-A.

I did this, but you have to be careful. Some FLACS have a "watermark" that, when burned to DVD-A, only allows 30 seconds of a song to play. I bought a bunch of FLAC's from HDTracks that were supposedly DRM free, but when I burned them to DVD-Audio, only about 75% of the tracks would burn.

Warner Brothers is the worst for putting this hidden DRM in their FLAC files.

P.S. I had the same issue as you loading .jpg files and thought it had to do with the size of the files, but will try a different memory stick and see if I get better results.

Good to know, thanks....I've got a bunch of FLACs from live shows, so when I get around to this (stalled out/distracted by other things), I'll experiment with those. I'm sure they won't have that. Really have to believe that the net effect of DRM to content producers is not a net positive.
