Bluetooth Audio

Must this be controlled from the phone or can it be controlled thru the Nav screen like the Ipod?

bluetooth audio pretty much amounts to a wireless aux jack.

Smile Bluetooth Audio

FYI: My brand new BlackBerry Bold 9700/TMobile, plays BT audio, through the Nav. system; however, the songs, & volume, ARE controlled, by the steering wheel controls, as long as you set the Bold to play the songs randomly. Once you turn on the RANDOM songs, on the Bold, all the songs, "shuffle".
FYI: sound is excellent; maybe better than my new IPod; guess the "wireless" connection, is superior. Great way to listen to music.

While the bluethooth sounds good, it does not sound better then the wire connection on my iphone. There is much more fidelity with the wired connection, but may not be to a non audiophile.

The amount of Bluetooth feature control you have depends on the device you're pairing itself.

For example, my BlackBerry Storm 9530 (and the Storm2 9550 and afore mentioned Bold 9700) include A/V Remote Control in addition to Handsfree and Object Push, giving me control of <<RWD and FWD>> from the steering wheel and from the audio dash buttons. Whether you set to play on random or straight through a play list, the buttons should work. Random is what I prefer just because I like to cycle through lots of songs.

With the device sitting on the center console or just behind the gear shift, I always have a clear view of what song is playing. So lack of control through the nav screen really isn't an issue for me.

As far as quality, I notice no difference between the Bluetooth audio and the AUX connection or USB. It sounds phenomenal for a wireless connection.

Bluetooth Audio

If you set your ITunes to 9.0.2, & your playback preference to sound check, the MP4 songs sound phenomenal, through my BB Bold 9700. I truly believe, that the wireless connection, creates a richer/warmer overall sound tone. Don't get me wrong; my USB/IPod, sounds fine, but the BT audio, may have a slight definition edge.
FYI: I'm a DVD/A, & DTS 5.1/surround freak. The discs; (30, or more), in my TL, are ALL surround.
Not even DTS, can compare to the full richness of DVD/A
That said, Bluetooth Audio, ROCKS; just wish my 9700, could hold more than the approximately 200, MP4's. What I do, is once a week, I delete the songs, & install 200, or so, random new ITunes.

What CPR said. I have a few dozen DVD-As and DTS discs. The sound is stellar. My iTunes is set to import music in Apple Lossless so the files are large, but they sound superb through the Bluetooth HFL with my iPhone 3GS.

Time to put a 32gig microSD card on your holiday wish list.
