Received the new red update disks today
Doing a background install and hoping we can still enter addresses while the car is moving. Would also appreciate a BT fix. Pandora on our Galaxy S5's is useless - cuts out every minute. Will post an update when the install is finished. Maps are 6 years old and have never been updated.

wondering if they've ironed out all the issues or not.... |
Installed mine last week w no problems on my 09...

I installed the 2 disks on my '09 using the background install option. Took about an hour for both disks to write to the HDD. Now the database is updating state-by-state. This will take several hours while the car is running. I was able to use the navi after my state was updated - it was the first one to update. I have not tried to enter any new streets but I can see on the map that a fairly new interstate is now there, however, so are the crumbs the navi left when I used it so I need to figure out how to clear them. Everything else is working as before which is what I was hoping for - we can still enter destinations while driving, visually, everything is the same. One thing though, I can swear I used to be able to hit the cancel button from deep within a map menu continuously until I was back at the map. Now, it only cancels back to one of the main menus, one step before the map, and I have to hit the map button to get back to the actual map. I don't recall having to hit the map button before. Curious if anyone with an original 09-11 map database can cancel all the way to the main map. One thing to note, my install screen prompts did not follow exactly those shown on the step-by-step instruction manual. They went in a different order. However, there is a small disclaimer in the instructions that states some cars may do this and, if yours is one of them, skip forward in the manual to a certain step. This worked for me. I thought it was installing incorrectly before I found that disclaimer. Overall, definitely worth the $100 to update 6 year old maps.. I will have to test the BT connection when I get a chance. |

@ bigrock.... mine had nvr been updated in 6 yrs either and I always had to hit the map button for it to show b4 and after update. Thought was odd too that's why I remember. So no worries that nice feature remained the same.

At least, hopefully, you won't need to budget for a full tank of gas to keep the car running while it slowly updates. That can add another $60 to the cost! Yes, I'm being only slightly sarcastic.
Good one. It's really great that the update is fully automatic in that you just turn the car on and off as your drive and park, etc., and it always picks up where it left off. Background update is the way to go. |

My VIN was rejected 4 times before I realized I was trying to order the wrong colored disk. I needed the red disk but kept inputting the VIN on the purple disk ordering screen. Figured it out on the 5th attempt (I'm a little slow) and it worked. |

Scummy people.... my vin works on the Canadian site, but not the US.
I just called them again, told them that it works on the Canadian site, they try to tell me the Canadian disc and US disc are different. I tell them it's the same, she comes back and says it's the same, but they can't get the code generated because their "generator is down". $102 shipped in the US, vs $211 shipped to Canada... |
do this now and get free shipping.

@Teddybear, Tried to order the US 2015 update for my 09 Canadian TL via their customer order line on the phone and they were having issues generating the secured password based on the info I provided them. They are looking into it and will let me know once they have a resolution.
I'll definitely post an update once they figure things out. I hope they do before July 15 before the $50 off expires. |

For the red disc on an 09 does anyone know if I will lose previous destinations and my address book. My disc is coming tomorrow and I wanted to install it before I go away on Sat. Thanks.

they've been "looking into it" for over a month now. I don't believe them. They just don't want to sell cheap to Canadian VINs....
Hmm I wonder if they block US owners from buying from the Canadian product page (thus paying more). Any US friends care to give it a try -- just see if you can get pass the VIN & Device ID entry page? :toocool: |

So I'm guessing it would not work if I bought the disc from someone else (other than the website) and tried to update my nav system? Can anyone confirm this?

I do not believe you will be able to use someone else's disk to update your system. |
I have a question and hope someone can help me. I just purchased a '12 TL Advance in April of this year. How can I tell which year navigation I'm running? I can see the code but that doesn't tell me which year it is. I had another TL that I sold and I was running the '14 version. There are some differences between the maps on the 2 cars but I honestly don't know which one is newer.

Should see a screen with like "3.10.0.D0" or something to that effect. I believe D0 is the latest. I'd have to double check my car. |

It's in like "System Info" in the nav settings.

I am planning to buy the Red disk today for my 2009 TL. Anyone notice any system software updates? I am looking specially for the speed limit. Thanks.

No new functionality noticed.

Any idea when the '16 update will be out? If I remember correctly, it seems like the updates used to come out late September/early October. I tried to purchase the '15 update back in the summer when they had they marked it down to $99 but they never could keep the discs in stock to sell them. Once they finally had some inventory in August, they raised the price back to $149. If I've got to pay the $149, I want to get the '16 version. Up until this weekend, the website still showed '15 discs. As of this morning, it shows no disc available for your vehicle. I'm guessing that means the '16 disc is about to be released. Anyone have any info on the matter? Thanks.

^^^^
Update: As of late this evening, the '16 discs are available. |
Looks like they've removed the 2016 discs from the website for some reason
|
I chatted with a sales person the other day and they said the 2016 discs were not available yet, even though they were on the site. I tried to order and it didn't take my vin info. The 2015 disc did. I think I'm going to wait until they go on sale.

2016 Navigation Disc
I checked the Acura website today and it looks like they DO have the new 2016 navigation disc available to order for 149.99 plus tax! Going to order mine up right now for my 2012 TL. Just thought I would let people know!
|
I get an error message of "Error generating activation code" when I try to buy the purple 2016 DVD
|
And once again, they've removed the '16 update disc from their site.

Yea I got the same error message as soon I tried to purchase it. Now it's off the website.. The wait continues...
|
So I've been checking the website about every other day or so to find out about the '16 disc that they have yet to release. For a long time only the '15 disc has been available. Today when I checked, there's a message saying something about your car already has the latest update available. I have a '12 TL that I bought in '15 and I'm pretty certain it has not been updated since the car was new. What is the hold up with the '16 disc??
|
Don't know how long it will last this time but as of today the website shows '16 discs available. $149 plus tax & shipping.
