2010 Audio Upgrade
2010 Audio Upgrade
so, for my first thread, looking for advice/comments on an audio upgrade utilizing factory head unit. I'm going to try to keep my cost for components around the $1K mark. I have some existing equipment that will be moved from my old car. I have a RF 3Sixty.2 and an older Polk 10" sub in a sealed box.Front speakers I'm considering are:
JL C2-650
Polk Dxi 6500.
Rear speakers I'm considering:
JL TR-650Cxi
Polk Dxi 650
Amps I'm considering:
JL XD700/5
RF Punch PBR 300X4 & PBR 300X1
I'm kind of leaning toward the Polks, as I like their sound, and they would blend well with the sub. However, having heard the JL's, I was also impressed with them.
I'm keeping an eye out on Craigslist and eBay for deals.
I've been doing some reading on the forum before joining, and I think I read that the 360.2 (or any signal processor)would be fed from the amp, and not from the head unit. Is this correct?
I've been out of the loop when it comes to mobile audio, as I haven't been looking to buy in a long time.
I look forward to comments and advice from the members.
The DSP of your choice would take it's input from the HU. In my CL, I went from the Factory HU thru a Cleansweep into my 1/2 din Alpine EQ ... feeding the outputs from the EQ to the JL Slash Amps I had in the back. In my TL, I've gone from the Factory HU thru an MS-8, and then take 8 feeds from the MS-8 into my JL HD600/4 and HD900/5. In both cases, the factory Bose amps were bypassed altogether.
