'09 TL - Poor XM Reception

Tried searching around the forum, couldn't find any solutions..

I drive a 2009 TL SH Tech and my satellite radio cuts out quite frequently. I'm currently driving a new 2012 TL (loaner car while mine's in service) and noticed the signal is more clear and consistent..not even losing signal under large overpasses. The sound comes through far less muted and with distinctly more bass.

I know a lot of people aren't fans of satellite radio, but I like it. From reading the forums, I know I'm not the only person with crappy reception, and I wonder if there is some sort of fix. ..maybe replacing the 2009 antenna assembly with the 2012's? Or is it an issue with the head unit itself?

Any insight on this?

I have no insight, but do have the same problem with my '09. It doesn't get as good of reception as my portable unit in my old car. I will say, the Ntennas did go bad on the portable unit. I wonder if that could be the case here.

Since your car is at the dealer, why don't you ask them for both of us?

When I had XM, I never had any problem with signal. Its possible the XM receiver in your car is going bad. Hard to tell without doing a front-end receiver test, which your dealer can not and will not do. Hopefully they will just replace the xm receiver,

I have an '09 TSX Tech and the reception is AWFUL as well, and it cuts out CONSTANTLY! I had to have my XM Module replaced once already soon after I purchased the car in '09 (how I knew it was going bad was the Note feature stopped working) and while the reception was bad with that Module it seems to have gotten worse over time, even with the new one.

The few loaners that I have had along the way, I did notice that their XM reception was better.
