Wood Steering Wheel and Shift Knob

Does anybody have these accessories installed in their TL? How does it blend in with the rest of the interior? If you can also post pics, that would be appreciated.

I can order both for $500 and install doesn't seem too hard either so I would love to have that luxurious look to the interior. I am just worried that it won't blend well because the rest of the car has a brushed aluminum look. Just don't want to have buyers remorse and be out of $500.

Thanks

To me, I think all those cheap add-on wood dash kits look terrible. I wouldn't do it. That being said, if you're going to do it, the wood steering wheel and shift knob would definately clash with the rest of the aluminum trim.

I would spend the money on something more worthwhile like an air intake or exhaust mod.

For whatever one old man's opinion is worth, I would stay away from the wood stuff, too. I do not think it suits the car's character.

I agree with you guys. It definitely will clash with everything else in the car especially with the umber interior. Plus looking at some of the higher res pics online it looks cheap and ugly too.

I considered getting this done too, but went against it because I figured it would clash with the rest of the interior. I was even contemplating getting the wood pieces that are standard in the base model (Cup holder, shifter area, and ash tray/coin holder compartment) to finish the look. But if history repeats itself, Acura will introduce an interior trim upgrade soon, like they did for the 3rd Gen TL. The 3rd Gen gen debuted as a 2004 model, but Acura didn't release the wood and carbon fiber interior trim pieces until the 2006 model came out (I believe). These accessories wasn't available when I bought my 2005 TL, but I bought them the following year. So we should wait and see, if all holds true we SHOULD see something else next year.

What I did was remove the plain aluminum trim, on the center console and had the base wood trim installed. Then I ordered and had installed the wood shift knob. It is my understanding that the wood steering wheel is only for the base model? ( I have tech package). I love the way it looks and gives the car a much more luxury look. My car is at its resting place covered as we had some bad weather here. I am super anal about my cars, and they do not get driven in snow. If I can get to it soon, I will take some pictures with my new cannon.

Thanks for the pics dwest. It looks a lot better than I thought it would especially with the center console. I don't think it'll look good with the umber though due to the color of the wood. Let me know if you think otherwise. Appreciate the pics.

I think it would look great with umber. That is a fabulous color.

I have the wooden steering wheel and shift knob in a 2012 advance model. It makes the interior look more upscale.

Tacky. Everyone will know it is just a piece of plastic. If it was a real, book matched piece of Burlwood, O.K.

Otherwise...

SAVE YOUR MONEY

I have the wood steering wheel and shift knob. I think the feel is much better. I have the parchment interior and I feel it adds another dimension and makes it seem more luxurious.

I have a 2014 TL 3.5 and the cupholder door and trim around shift they wood
in the earlier models it was the silver trim
if you have the model I have I think it will blend in okay with the wood trim already there
I believe it’s actually the same wood finish as installed on a later model 4G’s
