Windshield wipers question

Hey, I just noticed while driving in the rain, that when I came to a stop, the windshield wipers kept going. My old 3G TL wipers stopped when the car came to a stop, to I guess save the motor?

My setting today was on the first click, which allows you to manually set the time of the wipe for drizzle or other. I distinctly remembering that the 3G stopped wiping when fully stopped? Am I wrong, or did I take in some acid rain? Holla.

I think there is a setting in the MFD to make it straight intermittent or speed sensing intermittent.

Maybe I wasn't clearer, my bad. It's not the settings I'm concerned about, on page 131 it goes over the parameters, but it doesn't indicate that they will stop when the car stops.

Boy your hillarious 01tl4tl! Just point me to the 634 pages where it explains what I'm asking?

Maybe I should post this in the 3G section? Do I have to wear a bullet proof vest to go over there?

I think that if you have a long enough interval AND its set to speed sensing, it may stop altogether.

I believe [on the 3G], the speed sensing only comes in to play when you -

Have the system on intermittent
Have the intermittent setting set to the lowest - which is the same speed as low
When the vehicle comes to a stop it will make a final wipe, then increase the delay time. The wipers should not turn off completely, but the wipe interval will increase until the vehicle hits 10 mph; at which point it's back to the minimum intermittent setting (which is again, the same speed as low on the wiper controller)

I think you should get out the sound meter and a sprinkler and chart the results for us bmode. jk
l believe it will 'almost' not wipe once stopped but will still make an occasional pass (when the car is stopped)
imo the rain sensing wipers on my 05 MDX were the best - I didn't have to change the interm rate up and down w/ light rain - like you have to w/ the 'speed' (less expensive to make) wiper system

Okay, on the 3G the interval was interrupted as the sensor realized the car stopped, so the wipers still wiped but at a slower rate than the current setting, then as the car resumed, it went back to the interval setting. Thanks again Will for not taking a shot at me...LOL

Anyone who leads of advise or help with "I think" or "I believe" I pretty much disregard. I like definitive answers, sorry Timmaaaaaaah!

Ah.. so even though I was right my answer was not acceptable because I started off with a "disclaimer" of 'i believe' or 'i think'? I suppose I could have said "I know for a fact", but I was not 100% sure and did not want to give out false information.

You're not a teacher are you?

timmahh is indeed correct.

When in the intermitent mode, at the fastest intermitent speed, the 3G will wipe same as "low speed" when moving. When stopped, they will wipe with a pause in between.

Also - here is a cool thing - when in intermitent mode and stopped, as soon as you release the brake, the wipers will wipe to give you a clear windshield starting off.

Yeah next time say for fact dammit! If I was a teacher in this field I wouldn't be the one asking the questions would I? By the way, love the avatar.

Bearcat, is this on the 3GTL or 4GTL you speak of? And what about when the car is in Bmode?

Ehhh teachers are overrated. After all, a 3rd grade teacher only has to be smarter than a 3rd grader. I think I was correct too, but since I didn't say "i know for a fact" I was disqualified. In fact, the very statement above is not certain since it started with 'I think'

It's the internet-- so what if you're wrong?? I have no problem answering questions, and my wife says I don't know anything!

Use positive, active language as your default. I do use "IIRC" at the end of the sentence if I'm unsure, if my recollection is from many moons ago or if I was on a drinking binge at the time of the recalled subject matter.

Ok.. I KNOW FOR THIS A FACT! =p

Page 131 of the 2009 TL Owners Manual:

INT - The length of the wipe interval is varied automatically according to the vehicle's speed. Vary the delay by turning the adjustment ring. If you turn it to the shortest delay ([icon - 3 rain drops] position), the wipers change to low speed operation when the vehicle speed exceeds 12mph (20km/h).

Yeah I read that too Tim, I was just trying to recall what the 3G did in correlation to the 4G. My wipers didn't stop the other day when I was at a complete stop, and the wipers were set on intermittent with the light rain we had here in LA.

It's hard to convey sentiment on forums, it was not intended to be mean, but most people look for trouble here anyway, I know you don't CRXB. You know me by now. And the "Timmaaahhhhhh" was a South Park reference!

Sorry, 3G. I would expect 4G to be the same or similar, but

In bmode mode, the 4G wipers clean the window jusy by the driver thinking about it.

Well if that's the case then the shit don't work...LOL Thanks all!

I know we have a thread about window streaks, but it's starting to get on my nerves. It rained two days ago, and still I get streaking when the window goes down in the door. Blah!
