Why is my MPG so low?

19-20 local is not that bad, IMO! Stop and go driving is a killer on MPG. If your numbers were around 12-15, I'd worry.
Everyone drives differently too.. a couple of miles MPG isn't a problem.

on my 09 FWD, I used to get 18-20 local, on all highway around 26, a nice 21-22 was usual for combined. You're right in the range....my '11 AWD seems to get a little worse so far

if you drive more local, the MPG will suffer, it's normal
For example, I owned a SHAWD prior to my Base model now
My normal driving is about 85% city.. well like Los Angeles suburb, so i spend a lot of time just moving slowly, stop signs, bad drivers, etc
SHAWD MPG avg over the first 4 months = 14.5
Base MPG avg over the first 4 months = 17
It's been about a year since I got the Base, and now my avg mpg is 18.1. I think you're fine.

I get about 16-18 - 100% city, stop and go. Your numbers sound about normal. Everyone driving habits are different. But if you wanted fuel efficiency, a 2 Ton car was probably not the best choice.

Your average mpg is only 19-20 local? It's actually very good for a ~300HP car. My wife's 2010 FWD TL gets only 14-15 MPG local. Good thing is she only drive 3 miles from home to work.

Those short trips are brutal on your oil life and fuel economy. The engine does not achieve good efficiency until it has gotten good and warmed up.

20 mpg in the city is actually quite good for a car equipped with a V6.

One thing I've noticed is that in full Auto mode, the car uses the A/C quite a bit to regulate inside humidity levels, even when the outside air is not really warm. You can switch the A/C off so that won't happen, then turn it back to full Auto when the outside air warms up and you need A/C to keep the car at a comfortable temp.
My guess is that running with the A/C on a lot around town puts a considerable drain on MPG.

Stop-and-go traffic condition is gonna hurt mileage real bad.
On the other hand, highway drivings will do wonders to gas mileage.

I don't want to jump on the bandwagon here...this guy has enough detractors. But I see comments like this (as well as his infamous "gettin' it" post), and I can't help but think that they are contrived specifically to garner attention.

To be more considerate, please keep all your posts regarding racing in the "Racing and Competition" sub-forum, rather than in here where more and more members are getting upset about your constantly off-topic postings.

I've been tracking my mileage with an app on my Blackberry...initially started doing so to test with the MID was anywhere near accurate. Typical day to day is city driving, though there are some decent stretches, so it's not like downtown driving, though there's a bit of that too. I average about 17 mpg. Not racing, but I'm not the least aggressive guy on the road, either.
Couple of weeks ago, I had a chance to run her to the mountains. Sustained highways speeds of 70 to 75 mph made my economy jump up to 27 mpg. She's a car that's built to run...that's for sure.
Contrast with the wife's Ford Expedition: 11.5 mpg in the city, but a staggering 13.5 mpg on the highway. It's like pushing a brick into the wind.
